HID Light upgrade

I have always questioned the safety of daytime headlight use. At the end of WWII the US and Canada were experimenting with using light to camouflage aircraft - basically trying to make them the same brightness as sky rather than a dark silhouette against the sky.
 
Really don't care about being anti-social, nor do most riders. They may give it lip service, but tell them to never speed, only use stock pipes, don't remove cats, never lane split, no hooligan antics etc and you see my point.

I agree to disagree about the "edit out of their brain". Personally, I notice bikes with super bright headlights and loud pipes long before stock lights and pipes. "Testing" in this case can say anything it wants, but my own experience directly conflicts with it, indicating a improperly designed experiment, an agenda influencing the results of the test, or that I am a mutant.
 
HID's are so yesterday, LED is where you want to go as others have said.

The Harley Daymakers are from what I can gather pretty much these http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/headlights/model-8630-575-round-led-high-low-headlight which come with 4-year warranties instead of 1 (and no "Harley-Davidson" logo...)

Personally I'm getting the Truck-lite Phase 7 7-inch, because the Daymakers / JW Speaker ones are too directional - going down the road they're great, but in the twisties or when taking curves from what I gather they fire right into the road or out into space, not forward. LED light that's projected is extremely directional, there's not a lot of spill. But there's no 5.75 inch Truck-lite.

INCORRECT! JW Speaker makes both types; however, the Daymakers are made exclusively for HD. Those you mentioned are good lights, but the Daymakers are better. Look closely and you shall see the differences.
 
I have seen Bull's Daymakers in the day time and I could see him from a half mile back. Yes I left him in the dirt fatboy could not keep up with bug teeth :mad::eek::p:roll::D

So we be telling bald faced fibs now??? :laugh:
The Daymakers and wires fit was a tad tight inside the can and took a little fiddling, but was indeed plug n' play.

No, just human and thus prone to attacks of "common sense", also known as "it seems to me that..." Many many things in life aren't obvious and the straightforward answer is often wrong, it just "seems to us that" it should be right, because we prefer simple answers over more complicated but accurate ones.

I have yet to see any technical data on the Daymakers, I can't even find a lumen rating. The JW ones have 1200 (less than that effective). If the Daymakers have that too then they can't be all that different. If they have more, well, then they are.
 
the only problem i can see with the daymakers is the glare off of the paint and bumpers of the car stopped in front of you.
 
Was it a easy job installing these? Any modifications that needed to be made to make them work?

No mods required best I remember...plug and play. I had to get a slightly longer screw to go in the trim ring but that was it
 
it took a little finessing to fit it in the housing i remember i took out a little screw that held a small bracket for a wire. also i left out the thin rubber ring around the head light. and then i could use the original bolt and nut. you had to cut and use a connector on the parking light.
it didn't seem that bad to me. also i got a good enough beam that i could finally see to adjust the lights.
