HID Light upgrade

I have the 55 watt hi/low kit from DDM Tuning on my Daytona. Good price, tiny ballast, WAY brighter than stock day and night. Have had it on for 4 years now without issue. Beam pattern is great at night. DDM also has a great warranty and is shipped for California, not a China drop shipper.

those day makers are insanely expensive, not sure if i can afford those right now. What about just popping in a brighter halogen or led bulb?? Main thing i want is increased day time visibility

my little story
i decided to give it a good test so i installed one daymaker hd#67700144 on my 07 classic. it made the triumph head light look like a candle. i could now see at night. i think that this is a great way to go. on bright it shows up great in the day.
my lights are switched to battery a couple of days ago when i came to work i left the lights on 8 hours latter it started very slow so i checked the light switch and it was on but the only light that worked was the daymaker on hi beam nothing else worked. it amazed me that it would start.
what i found was the triumph light had small amount of corrosion on the head light connector and burned up the ground terminal. The triumph light would not do a thing.
i think that for those of you that has not installed the eastern beaver if you used two daymakers you would not have to use eastern beaver. jmo
the only draw back is the price $300-400 each. that is why i only bought one to start with.
i think those that have tried them love them.

I have seen Bull's Daymakers in the day time and I could see him from a half mile back. Yes I left him in the dirt fatboy could not keep up with bug teeth :eek::p:roll::D
Well considering your younger then I am plus I where Tri-phocals I will stand corrected. I also have a full face shield so I do not get bugs in my teeth :)
Of course I am butt ugly so I would probably scare the bugs away anyway :) One of the pluses of being butt ugly that and you do not have to worry about woman bothering you :D

Found these this morning. Single beam, certainly made in china, probably not DOT approved, but 1/3rd the price of others.

I'll be ordering one of each soon to Guinea pig the retrofit requirements for a rocket 3. If the work out as acceptable quality I'll be replacing all the stock bulbs with LEDs from them and adding some small driving lights to the front.

Nice but the first is definetley a single beam no High beam like our bikes the second one does not specify nut I believe its a single beam also

Was thinking of re-wire them so the 5.75s are both on with low beam and using driving lights for high beam. Not sure about everyone else but my headlights are always, without fail, set to bright mode. I really don't care if its legal/ annoying at least I can see/be seen.

For the cost of 2 LED bulbs you could buy a set of good quality headlight units and see and be seen better using your stock bulb or buy some good higher wattage bulbs. I think you will be disapointed with the LED replacemnt bulb. Without a properly designed reflector housing the light will be scattered.

I have seen first hand what the daymakers look like in the day time and night time and you will not be disappointed. This is not a time to be Cheap Charley. The @FATBOY has it right. :)

That's a myth, so you're being antisocial, annoying and illegal for no good reason and increasing - not decreasing - your risk. First of all, people will look away from high beams. So that's a great result, people are turning their heads away and shading their eyes instead of being aware of your position.

Another possibility is that the glare will simply edit you out in their brains. Literally.

"What actually happens, often enough, is that when a motorcyclist leaves their high beam on as they approach another car, they become a white fog of light. Unfortunately, this is often interpreted by the driver’s brain as meaning nothing is there. If the brain can’t see it, and the driver is already not paying attention, he or she is almost certain not to see the motorcycle. Even if the driver is alert enough to be aware of the presence of another vehicle, the masking effect of the light may make it impossible to judge things like speed, lane position, or even the motorcycle’s use of a turn signal. This can lead to drivers turning left in front of a motorcycle they did not see or could not judge speed and distance on, among other things."

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=74682.0 and many others via Google that combine the word "high beam" and "myth".

If you are really unhappy about giving up the annoyance factor, get a headlight modulator. They're legal in the States (though pretty much nowhere else) and they actually work, even though they're annoying.
