New Rocket III Touring tune question

Thats exactly why I dont want to sacrifice horsepower. The Boss Hoss has plenty of torque and horsepower but in the end was just too expensive for me. I loved the bike but having $50K into a motorcycle became difficult when my daughter decided to go to an IVY league university.

The Rocket I believe will be a good alternative but the Tourer giving up 33 horsepower (over the standard Rocket) doesnt make sense in order to gain a few pounds of torque...

Triumph rates the standard with 140 HP at the crank. The tourer is listed at 120 HP, 14% lower at the top end. What's the big deal? Do you do a lot of street dragging or at the track. If so, you've got the wrong bike in either case.

I checked with my dealer this week and found out that the cupcake tourer has different cams/timing also. We also decided that what really draws people to the Rocket is the arm straightning tourqe. which the new tourer has more and picks it up a 2000 rpm 500 rpm sooner than our scoots. another 30 hp is great if you need to run 140mph. Where I live thats illegal. I love to stuff my hand down the carbs as much as the next guy, but I can Ill afford to loose my license. I can get to 115 right quick, but I cant't see far enough for 140mph. The State of Michigan is broke and looking for revenue. How many have run up to the 140mph mark anyway? come on thats 205 feet per second. anbody seen the current whitetail deer population figures? In fact I haven't rung out any of my bikes to top end since I sold my 750 Suzuki. Maybe we need a poll here. :soapbox:

I must have missed something because the website and my local dealer list the Tourer as having 106hp. Thats 24% less at the top end. I guess it isnt a big deal. I could get a hardley with 66 horsepower (thats onlye 52% less) too and I am sure that it would go just fine...

You guys are sounding like all those "Harley Guys" who pissed and moaned about Harley when they introduced the V-Rod! But they still have their Herritage Softtails, Ultra Classics, Road Kings and the 100 or so other models Harley is still building. What's the problem with a manufacturer adding to their stable?
I guess that's why they still make the R3 and the Classic. I for one am glad they made the changes. They made it the perfect bike for what I wanted!
Proud new '08 R3T owner.

I really like the RIII Touring tank badges. I would really like to know if they are curved right to attach to our tanks.. My guess is it will take about $200 bucks to find out for sure.. Not willing to go there yet.. lol

My dealer looked up the cam part numbers and they are the same as the standard Rocket however, the throttle bodies are different part numbers.
