So having read all the threads on Rivco risers I bought a pair and was installing them today. After getting the bars off and the old risers I realize that the 2 new bolts are about 1/2" too long. I go to autozone and get some that fit. I get the bars on and man the throttle cables are tight. I had already pulled off the clutch cable and re-routed per rivco's instructions, but it didn't mention the others. So i take off the brake lines and the throttle cables and snap part of the plastic throttle piece off that holds the cable, crap! Now I have to order a new throttle tube, and probably new kuryakyn grips too, since its glued to it. I also realize that new linger brake lines and throttle cables would probably be a good idea, so I can route them properly. I'm getting in way deeper then I wanted to with this seemingly simple upgrade. Oh well, live and learn...

a tip for you the "Classic" Clutch and Throttle cables are slightly longer and will fit better I have the Rivco risers and even before buying the longer cables was able to make it all work with a bit of rerouting just wasn't happy that cables were a tad tight on full lock, shame you had the trouble also Kurykin ISO grip make one that incorporates the throttle tube just cant remember the part # of hand

Oh yeah, and now my tank doesnt really clear, baerly when I take off the bracket, and my gauges sit super low, like an inch over the gas cap. I just looked at thepackaging and realized they sent me the kit for the touring, maybe thats why all this stuff is screwy...

the 05 handle bar clamp is hinged which will make lifting the tank easier also the chrome bracket that holds the tank down can easilly be made to act as a hinge so it folds down out of the way, I welded a narrow tube (cut in to three with a bolt in side to hold them in line) to the inside of the bend then carefully cut the bracket I can take a photo if you like

Good luck with it mate,
I have bought some risers but have not installed them as yet - but I will get there.
I have new ISO Grips and longer cables to do the whole thing ALL at once.
But I got to build an extension to my shed first so I can spread out a bit, No room when the wife gets home from work.

see attached a hinge bracket one of the other members made - Cant recall who tho.
This replaces the orig tank retaining tab at the front

Top pictures look in under the front edge of the hinged bracket the second is of the 05 handle bar clamp which is hinged and allows the gauges to swing up out of the way and was actually quite reasonably priced

Rob if you decide to go with the folding gauge bar mount Andy at NCY in San Diego can get it for you he chased one down for me that I sent to Canada for a Roadster. I am not sure but I think he is back from Vacation now.

I had no problems except the clutch on the Touring, but if you got the touring risers for the R3-not-touring I can see why it might cause issues, it doesn't move the bars quite to the same location I suspect.
