I’ve searched the forum but didn’t find anything about chopped TOR’s. Has anybody done it? I just chopped my Rocket and shorter pipes will look sweet.

Not the best picture but that’s how it looks now.

The thing is I like the 2-1 pipes and there isn’t any system I like that’s available for the Rocket.

I would have done it by now but I don’t want to take the chance and have a bad sounding bike.

Why not shorten a set of stock mufflers ? I'm with Canberra, i would'nt chop up a set of TORS when i reckon you would would get similar sound/performance from gutted and shortened stockies. Dont know if i would chop up what is a $1,200 (AUS) rear guard/fender either. Looks good short but i've waited until a damaged one has turned up. Let us know how you go with mods.

I might just do that, I have the stockers somewhere in the basement. Maybe I’ll make a project out of it.

The rear fender was damaged when my bike fell over so cutting it was the way to go.

Anyone has any tips on cutting the pipes?

Nice bob-job. Pipes are another story. Don't chop the TOR's. The new pipes lazarus is developing would look tight on your bike:D

Mitchpc cut open a set of stock pipes and posted pics on the .com forum.

Here's the best couple of shots. I don't think he'd mind me copying and pasting it here.
I've bought a second set of of these with the intention of altering them but I don't see any real good way and I hate to waste a pristine set of pipes.
I'm interested to see what you do. I'm looking for a bit more flow while retaining the stock look.

checkout pipemasters.net, not 2-1 but shorter and sounds great

Dragline708 (from the early days on the .com site) modified his stock mufflers simply by drilling through the baffling. He made a series of holes around the perimeter of the thru pipe. The sound was similar to the TOR's and the "breathability" of the pipes was similar as well as, which was a function of the diameter of the drilled holes and the number of drilled holes.

I was planning on trying that myself, even got another set of stock pipes, but decided to buy another brand new set of TOR's 'cause I missed their sound so badly.
