Tank Slapper

I have only ever seen something like this happen once ,when a bloke we were riding with his axle lost the nut and wound out until it cleared the swing arm on one side , the chain pulled the rear wheel sideways that induced a similar tank slapper and rear wheel lock up ,nasty thing to happen and nothing he could do to control it luckily he survived with a bit of bark off and required a change of underwear.

For my edification, what is a "rubber mount Harley" ?

To add to what @alpental said...The other models used an internal engine balancer as is in my Fatboy. They are called "A" and "B" motors. A being the rubber mount. Neither are perfect as the A model still shakes like a stripper sitting at a light but then smooths out as you go. The B motor is the opposite, idles smoothly but picks up minimal vibration at around 60mph. I prefer the B motor.

I know what you mean , you can balance a 20c coin on its edge on the exposed valve cover of my Mates FB6 while its idling and it just sits there a neat party trick

Or save yourself the bother just lean on your washing machine with an out of balance load on spin cycle.
If she really gets going you can wobble and buck cross country just as fast too, just need a longer extension cord!

The news report on this said that the person videoing this started recording after seeing him go into a wobble TWICE before this.... now I don't know about you but if it started wobbeling like that id pull over and give it a look or turn around and take her home.

Emma on the Motorcycles and Misfits podcast said you can see a distinct lack of air pressure in the front which is more than likely the cause of the tank slapper, but I guess my eyes are not that good, it does look a little low I guess.

And **** that dude is going to have some serious road rash.
