These photos are of the upper bearing race on my 2008 Anniversary Road Glide. The bike fell to the left from day one . The San Diego dealer denied the problem existed. I stripped the front end down and found the offset. Harley Davidson sent a representative who declared the race within tolerance and required no modifications. You judge

My '13 Ultra Classic Limited just rolled over 50k miles and has been trouble free from day 1. I probably talk more $hit about HD than anyone here, but credit where credit is due...that bike has hauled my far a$$ around the country with zero issues. The only tank slapper I've experienced was when the valve stem failed on the front tire at highway speed. The bike got "mushy" feeling and the tank slapper didn't start until I slowed to 35 mph on the exit ramp. I managed to keep it up with some rear brake and then parked it intil a buddy could come with a trailer.

One additional thought...I will shortly replace the chain driven cams with gear driven cams and ride the Ultra another 50k. I would do it now, but as soon as I install the new clutch it has to make a 13k mile ride right quick

Yes if the maintenance is done and worn parts are replaced you can get a few miles out of a Harley. I have 89,000 miles on a 2010 Fatboy. (bought new in Dec 2010) Still runs good. Gear driven cams are OK if everything is within tolerance and stays that way. Prefer the chain driven with the Hydraulic tensions.

My Harley would shimmy like that if I let go on the bars at around 35 mph. Not that I was in the habit of doing that. I noticed the problem one day and took it to the dealer. They adjusted the steering head several times, but never quit got quite rid of the problem. I suspect he had his hands off the bars when it began to do it and he couldn't get it back under control. Ouch!
