Rocket Roadster Tire Dope

Anyone found the excedra max tee for less then Rocky Mountain? They've it for 160ish.

I've read very good things about the Pirelli front tire on other similar weight bikes, with the stipulation that it wears quickly.

Remember Pirelli = Metzler = Pirelli literally the same company, and they've made at least one set for each company using the same rubber with only the tread pattern changed.

That said, I'm quite happy with my Avons F/R, using a 140/75 up front.

For the past 12 years, I have found NOTHING less expensive than Rocky Mountain.
Fast delivery as well!
Jake Wilson (same company I believe) has the same prices.

Yeah they try and keep it quiet. I don't recall which tire model it was but sportbikers got a Pirelli tire track rep to admit that a certain P and certain Metz model were the exact same tire with different tread patterns.

They try to tout Pirelli as the higher performance company but that's just bollox.

On a side note, I've been reading about the 880 vs Cobra more. The 880s tend to have durometer readings in the mid to high 70s and the Cobra usually in the low 60s, which explains the grip increase some. What's amazing is the Cobras generally last longer, showing their superior carcass design and likely their ability to cope with heat better.

Need to get my hands on a Excedra Max and tire durometer so i can test for myself.

Just a note:
My tire engineer says that comparing durometer readings on MC tires and car tires is misleading due to the major tire compound differences.
Comparing MC to MC or CT to CT is appropriate but one to another reveals nothing.

Way back in the mid to late 80s I use to run sticky Pirelli on my Ninja and L-O-V-E-D them, even though they yielded only 4K miles!
The Metzelers sucked on both my V2K and on the R3R.
Go figure, I guess . . . :D

WELL the stock rear METZLER is the best choice at the DRAGSTRIP and we run 8 second !/4 mile times with the stock METZ

I believe that to be possible.
All my issues with Metzeler were their infrequent and unexpected propensity for stepping out in curves!

YOU I DONT REALLY CARE HOW LONG IT LAST AS LONG AS IT HOLDS ON IN ALL CONDITIONS I often take a tyre of when it hits the the wear bars or feel it is not 100% safe the Dunlop Elite 3 in a 17/80/17 which grips better and feeds back better than Avon 170/80/17 or the Michelin Commander 140/75/17, It is the first tyre I have actually worn down further, it was only I happen notice I had gone down to almost no thread grove but still felt good to ride, the milage is more than the Avon but that is possibly partly due also as I found the Avon to go off once it was getting close to wear bars, I wont ride on a tyre that does not feel right
are the Wade bars thoes shinny thangs that run around the tar?;) cuz that's when I buy MayPops.

PLEASE go back to my original post and review again!
I have further refined my chart to include all known tire combinations for the R3R and for the OEM tires of the R3T.
Much useful data with explanation here, including circumference ratio calculations to determine ABS fault possibility.
I hope some of your find this dope useful!
Best Regards . . .

@1olbull Thanks for all the research and sharing my friend.
I never liked the Night Dragon rear I had on a previous bike, it was slippery until you got it warm. I think I may try the front when I need one. Not seen much about it on here.

Gratitude, my friend!
I do this stuff anyway and enjoy sharing information with my MATES!
