Sorry, sold my machine tools a couple of years ago. They shouldn't cost much to make up at any Machine shop.

For the last 12yeras I have placed a piece of 3/4" plywood with a aunt sally(spinning plate ) attached to it that goes on my bike jack and under the engine I lift it up and spin the bike around so I can ride out of my bike shed instead of backing it out.

I love this idea. Pictures are worth a 1000 words please post some especially the spinning plate Thx

As I said for the last twelve years I have spun the bike around using plywood and an aunt sally with no problem at all, so yes you most definitely can lift the bike up by the sump(underneath the engine) safely. Now I would not try it on the bikes with ABS

Your post makes sense to me i looked under the bike mine is a 2005 i have a flat table jack so a piece of ply on top of that and it should be ok ? is there any points on the sump you have to be careful of at all,as driving the bike in and spinning it around is exactly what i need to do Thanks

Yep been jacking my Rockets up for years no problems nothing left hanging below to catch a trailer, speed bumps are something I always watch when rolling over. I suppose the two of the drain bosses under the two sump screen do protrude down a little from that big chunk of aliminum. The oil tankdrain boss plug may stick down but if you know the Rocket engine you would realize that one is is under solid engine case and does not deflect at all. In fact the mounting area around the left center of the engine is solid . Ply wood works. After all you don't have to lift it to change the oil. So tires removal yes. I'm not trying to upset all you guys but if this was a how to wipe your arse thread. Some of you would reach around the toilet to accomplish it. Others would pull their pants up first then try wiping. And yes some would just include toilet paper in their diet thinking it would do the job of wiping on the way out
The truth is I've only seen or heard of 3 sump pans being cracked or broken and not a one was from jacking it up!!!

I thought about start an arse wiping thread as you mention brother, but when I looked it up on line, work suspended my access to the internet; so, never mind...

But about jacking, I do the oil change with the bike on the kickstand. About to change the kickstand so i will prop the bike up so the weight is off that. Just need a serious breaker bar to loosen that darn nut...

@Boog , yes I do oil changes on the side stand. I place a 2x4 under the stand do she is more upright. Not sure why your changing the side stand but I recommend being very careful pulling the bolts from the engine case. You don't want to muck up the threads. Remind me next time were together and I'll tell you what I found on one of mine after someone else installed the engine. Anyway if you just doing that one of them atv jacks will hold her upright just fine.
