Hey bull are you talking front or rear or both?

WARPO,
I be talking both IF I went with some light weight wheels.
If I could find a 17" rear wheel assembly compatible with my 2012 R3R, I'd go for it and retain the OEM front wheel.
Do you know of one???????????????

The truth is you wouldnt be happy with the 17 inch stuff they wont last long enough on a Rocket with its size and power I m very happy with the 18 inchers I have on my BST wheels no complaints

What tires do you run on the BSTs?

The Rocket Roadster wheel sizes are VERY limiting for tires, especially if you prefer to match two of the same brand and model!
Me thinks 18" front and back would be the best set-up; however the BST are WAAAAAAAAAAAY SPENDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$3,600.00 USD for BST wheels!!!
where did you see that price they list fo 5500
What tires do you run on the BSTs?
MICH COMMANDER REAR EXCEDRA MAX FRONT very happy with this combo

I dont see any advantage trying to run 17 inch sportbike tires the big ROCKET will chew them up

Size doesn't matter 16,17,18,20 as long as their rated for the weight and the compound isn't gum they'll take it just fine.

One 17" that springs to mind as perfectly suited upgrade is Pilot Road 2,3,4. Multi compound that is hard down the middle, by hard I mean hard for a sportbike, and soft on the shoulder with vastly superior grip wet or dry to anything offered for the R3. They don't make it our size, but it's an example of a tire that would be a perfect match to R3s.

YOU DON'T USE METZLERS ON YOUR 09? WHAT THE HELL ART?
I have 18 inch BST WHEELS on that bike and the tires I mentioned I run METZLERS on my CARPENTER MODDED 2012 ROADSTER and we run METZLERS on all the modded Rockets on the DRAGSTRIP
