Sure doesn't appear so to me.
The 17 inch wheels have the most GOOD tires.
Not so much the 18 inchers from what I have seen.
I be thinking a set of light weight 17 inch front and rear may be the ticket.
Hey bull are you talking front or rear or both?

The truth is you wouldnt be happy with the 17 inch stuff they wont last long enough on a Rocket with its size and power I m very happy with the 18 inchers I have on my BST wheels no complaints

So to follow up the company that will resize your wheels is www.deget.de

It looks like the cost to go to 18" from 16" if you keep the same width is 660 euros and from what I can tell the work is TUV approved, meaning, it should be safe. There are a couple of rockets running these wheels in Europe I've seen pictures of.

I would love to see pictures, where did you see them? I've seen the Graphite ones but way too much complans for the money.
1olbull, what is a set of light weight 17 inch? Front and rear?

With the plus for those of us in Buerocratia - the alternative size can be homologated.

I see no reason at all why a well sourced 17" tyre (180-200 wide) will last less than a similar 18" (or 16") - The difference being massive choice and big price difference. Different treads, compounds etc etc. And Z rated which matters in warmer climes. I am going to put my tyre guy to work

I went with the 18 inch rear as there were more choices. I wish I would have also done a 17 inch so could try the 245 Pirelli the run on the diablo. It really depends on what speed rating you're looking for on the front if it's V-rated I would just stay 17. I ran a bias Exedra Max on my front which sucked not sure if the 18 inch radial is any better but am willing to suspect so. As for the price of the cf wheels 3600 was a group buy a long time ago. Today you would be doing good to find a used set at that price. Say what you want but at the price they are now they are not worth it.

If you research speed ratings, the Avon fromis V+ and the Excedra Max rear is V+ they have no top speed rated, just safe for above 149. The Avon rear is only V so 149.

Ya I went 18 for the Y rating at the time I was running the 06 pretty high doing A/F testing. Although I run the avon v rated above 149 but not higher the 179.

An old dyno guy I know, said that the sport bikes he's tuned that switch to carbon fiber rims gain 10 hp.
I have ridden Rockets before and after having the BST carbon wheels fitted and can attest to the large gains in steering, and handling they provide with the big reduction in unsprung weight. However I have also dyno tested two Rockets before and after the carbon wheels and can tell you there is NO noticeable difference in power readings. Optimistically maybe 1 to 1.5 hp on a 230hp bike.
