Cleaning the wheels

That is correct I assumed all the r3 standard will were not coated I have an 07 classic and they have no coating and with the speedy metal polish and a little elbow grease they polish to like chrome
They must have started spraying clearcoat in '08 then, ... I wish they hadn't.
Mine are covered in a very soft clear that everything sticks in, (yes IN, not TO).

honda bike spirits

have had my new rt3 for 30 days and 3000 miles bike looks new never used water
bike spirits and micro fiber rags works good 10 minute wipe down every day wax job every 2 weeks wheels look new dust just wipes off:D

I use a product called CT-18 to wash the bike. It is a non-caustic truck wash recommended by a Sydney based motorcycle accessories retailer. You dilute it as required, spray it on and rinse off with assistance of micro-fibre cloths. I've used it for some time now on my Bonneville and now on my Rocket Roadster. Does a great job removing grime. The wheels come up nicely.

I use NeverDull on mine, it comes in a can and looks like a ball of yarn but has cleaner in it, don't know if it's better than the others but it does work pretty good

i have an 08 classic and i'm thinking that the wheels aren't coated, other than the black paint or powdercoat on parts of the inside of the spokes. i'll first clean the brake dust and assorted grime with some dawn dishwashing liquid with a soft rag. polishing aluminum becomes a lot of work, and i sorta like the bare look like excile cycles uses. easy to take care of if i don't get started polishing the rims.

G'day Badger , i was warned against using CT-18 because of the caustic-like ingredients. Purple polish the best stuff i found ... until i got the gloss black powdercoat on my wheels :D
