Cleaning the wheels

That is correct I assumed all the r3 standard will were not coated I have an 07 classic and they have no coating and with the speedy metal polish and a little elbow grease they polish to like chrome
YEP if the wheels arent coated and they are oxidized use xxxx steel wool and aluminum polish that works great to remove the deposits and then polish with a soft rag ;)

Mine are not the quickest way to find out is to clean your wheel good and put some metal polish on a rag rub on a spot that has oxidation if the rag turns black there is no coating

I was at the dealer today and they said the wheels were coated up to about 08,but they were unsure of the exact change over date. They said my 08 would probably have coated wheels:mad:

I will try the soft options and work up:rolleyes:

The '05 Rockets had coated wheels. From '06 on they did not have any coating on them. I am not sure about the Touring model. Not having coated wheels is starting to be a pain in the ass.

Mine are not coated (08 Standard) I polished them when I first got the bike using S100 metal polish and Autosol, I then applied a good quality wax, has lasted very well almost 9 months. All I do after washing the bike is wiping with a chamois and spot cleaning and re-waxing if required.
