It's all unnecessary, but most of us don't leave our bikes like they came from the factory.
With the Carpenter exhaust and a good tune it really woke up my stock bike.

I meant the huge 4040s may yield more air than the stock engine needs and also require cutting up or removing the bearclaw.

i have 2780's....cut away bearclaw....jardine headers and cans and dyno tune to gell it all together....works well.
My way of thinking is .....good air intake...must have good exhaust gas release.....makes the bike relax and breathe...and dyno tune to get the air/fuel correct....she will run like hot chocolate!
You have the pipes, now choose your air intake...Ramair is great as are K&N's. Add Power Commander v which helps the tuner get things right. If you ride your bike in different altitudes, then you can get auto tune on the PCV...this will let the tune alter the fuel intake as you encounter different air pressures.
If you dont want to cut the bearclaw, i would choose ramair as this will live under the bearclaw...snug fit.

It's always better to have a little more, than not enough for what the motor wants, especially if you have your rpms higher than stock. And the huge chrome bearclaw is hideous.

No, the bearclaw has to be trimmed or removed.

    Mine is stock engine.
Will the 2780s fit under the bearclaw ?

Also, which K&N components would fit for ATI and crank case breather ?

I have a carp pipe tune that will work well once you've swapped out the intake to any of the options, message me your email.

The 2780s fit fine under a bearclaw painted flat black.
