Throttle Grip failure


My solution has been to carry an extra throttle grip in my panniers. I have a BrakeAway throttle lock so the end of the replacement grip is turned down so it will still fit my throttle lock.

I have been thinking about buying some Avon Contoured grips, but in answer to your question....according to the instructions I read for the Avon grips, the piece you are talking about has to be glued to the grip with the adhesive provided. I don't believe you can simply let it set on the teeth of the grip that it mates or locks into. If the piece breaks out, it would be tough to replace it with it glued on. If someone on the forum has not glued theirs on, it would be interesting to know how that has worked out for them.

I didn't glue the one on my Intruder....it hasn't been a problem in two years...but when the cable housing is screwed back together there's not much place for the piece to go. It may be roomier in the Rocket housing, but not by much I am sure. Still, it would be good policy to put a couple drops on there, they do include a small tube of the stuff.
 
Guys - Does the "T" also have the STUPID bar diameter reduction on the throttle side? (I guess for heated grips wiring).

If so then I feel that like the original this allows too much waggle at the bar end. This will also put flex pressure on the bits the cables slot into at the other end.
It certainly made the throttle action feel very snatchy on mine as if the throttle tube was catching on something.

When I made my new bars - I reduced the section of bar inside the grip to 7/8" and had IGUS in Germany make me some bearings.
I made myself an emergency second tube - but it's sat doing nothing.

The alternative is to simply get a local machine shop to make you up a thingie in DELRIN that fits snugly inside the throttle tube and will rest on the reduced diameter section.
 

Well the place I had my bike towed to put the Avon throttle on for me. I pulled it off yesterday and replaced with another ISO I had just so I wouldn't have to switch out the clutch grip also (wish I would have had the ISO with me...I was putting it on my other bike though). Anyway, the CAM part was NOT glued on. But they were in a hurry and trying to close...
 
No idea - though as I believe HD tubes fit R3´s - I suppose their Harley ones. I keep hoping that somebody in the US will pop in and see them - and that way we would know. Postage to me kills experimentation. Throttle Tamer - I want to try the fast action ones.
 
Street tamer. It's supposed to make the lower speeds more manageable. The on/off at low speeds is kind of annoying but I'm still learning as well.
 
Got a reply back from Kuryakyn. I'm not what you would call very impressed or happy. This is what they said.
