Most likely the dealer is playing ignorant because he either has no tech that can do the job or they can't do it fast enough to make some money IMO. Gus says if he can make it do it you will most likely be covered like 98% sure. In talking to him on the phone I believe him. Mine I told him I was not worried about it as all you got to do is twist the throttle hard and its there or just ease her up to 1800 rpms and it does it for you. So I am sure I need one and will probably do it myself. Although I would not hesitate to let him after talking to him. I figure I might as well do a total upgrade forged pistons, hot cams, Carpenter Head work and a few other goodies to boot. Besides he would have to work around other things he might not be used to like Vampire unit , DFA, wego III. these subtle changes might add extra time for him like the blower and it sounds like he is a busy man.
Anyway Boggswipe I will tell you a quick reason why you should go the extra miles to a good dealer. The one I bought mine from well when I took it back to there for the 500 mile check up I asked the tech to raise the head lights up so I did not have to watch the front tire. I figured they were for look down the road:D The tech told me they don't adjust!!!! Needless to say I never took it back to them asnd told the owner that he needed to get a tech that had one more active brain cell then a dead cow!!!!!!!
So if your dealer is in this catagory I suggest you find another.

Me I figured I have never worked on a motor cycle motor before and If I can do the blower install and 5000 miles later tear the head off replace all three cylinder liners and the two detonated pistons the tranny can't be much more difficult. Oh and I have over 39,000 on mine and still pull a 10.033 quarter at 157.6 with a ferked up second gear!!!!
Mind you I do not lay in to all the way now and still putt 226.8 hp to the dyno drum.
Yes and I love her so much I won't have another ride and take the time away from the beastie!
Nuff said
I hope you find a better place and it works out great for you.

**** if I wasn't doing the pistons and stuff on mine I would be sending it to him he said it would only be two weeks. I bet he tripples that 18

If anyone is anticipating an upgrade, and if you are thinking about changing cams, hand the mechanic your new cams before the upgrade. You will save a bunch of labor cost.

I will most likely take a sick day Tuesday and go see Guss so he can verify the need to Triumph which they said if he could they would stand behind it. I am thinking cams but must wait on a inter cooler so I can spin 7500 out of mine. Looking forward to the ride even though I don't use second anymore.

I am watching Carpenter racing to see what goodies they add to the ICSC rocket they have in there shop. Then Art and I will be talking much more then we do already:D

I got an engine light this morning. No apparent reason, but I turned it around and put it in the garage. First time in 5 years. Bringing it to the dealer this afternoon.

Did you check the code with Tuneboy or a code reader?

After fretting all day, I came back, turned it on and the engine light was on. I hooked it up to Tuneboy and got a P0638 code (Unknown DTC returned). The manual says this code means "2ndary throttle circuit malfunction". Strange that Tuneboy didn't give the exact definition. So I cleared the errors and the engine light hasn't come on since.

I noticed the primary TPS voltage was 0.565 and it's supposed to be 0.58-0.6 V. The mechanic said my voltage was OK. The dealer then tells me there is a service bulletin to do do some stuff with the idle. I think this is fairly dated. While they're at this, they adjust the TPS voltage at idle and at full. I talked to the mechanic and he said that downloading the latest Tuneboy tunes should be compatible with their adjustments. He said if the bike is running OK, I shouldn't worry but still recommended to do the service, which Triumph pays for.

Is this true? I don't want them to mess with it and then have my Tuneboy tune not work right. I'm using the 20226 Tuneboy tune. Is this post-service bulletin on the idle problem? How often doesn't Tunebiy update the stock Triumph tunes?

As long as they didn't load a tune you should be fine. Adjusting the TPS won't change anything regarding the tune. You also should be able to tell if they loaded one by loss of power and decel popping.

Just got Back from Baxter's amazing place Guss verified my second gear problem so now I wait on Triumph. I would of hung around longer but 775 miles today is enough for this old man. I sure will go back though.:D
