Lets Talk Cams

Huh ...... Where did I make that comment Steve, I prefer to take them on in the twisties, drags from stops are not really my cup of tea as it tends to be a bit hard on the clutch, I prefer to power on after the clutch is out and as mentioned elsewhere it is mainly in QLD and Victoria where the cops are a bit over the top

Personally I find I run into all the various kinds of rpm use on the road usually depending on the guy coming up to have his way with you or have some fun as I would say. Some of the sport bikes plan ahead and if they are going to try to eat you up they usually come up on you a gear down or so that way the have there engine up in a little torque y area already to pounce on you. There are the ones that pull up and down shift quickly so they can perform their squirrel y acts. and the ones who have already planned on blowing you off the road, so they have down shifted and are already wound up when they get to you and plan on going right by you. Its fun dealing with these guys as long as you have been paying attention to them in your mirror as you can prepare to let the beast loose when they get close to you. My self I like letting them have the feeling of "getting the jump on you" as it hurts worse when you come eat them up from behind. the same with the stop light crap I love to let them have the jump on me so they can hear the blower spool up. There is just something intimidating about hearing the whistle Just like there is something about cruising along at 65 to 70 mph and being able to down shift and rip the tire loose it just plain gets their attention. That being said I like my power from the moment the starter turns until I hit the kill switch

I can say those of you who think you won't use the extra rpm well one you have it you most likely will just because you can!!!!!!
I have watch mine go thru all kinds of stages like when I first put the TTS kit on. it was a blast but then well I started looking for more and as I did that the rpm on the engine increased firs tto 7500 then 8000 then 8500 as I spun the blower up more and finally I had to make some changes to the head and goodies so I would not spit shims out of the buckets. Yes I had been gambling for quite some time on the over the top buckets and did not loose. But like Russian Roulette eventually the bullet is going to come up. So I changed mine for the safety and longevity of the engine. I never really cared how much HP I have as much as I cared how well the engine would hold up to my having fun with it!!!
Needless to say all areas can be and are fun

Just my 35 cents worth !!!

THATS FUNNY you never cared about how much horse power you had because you broke the guys DYNO and you have more than enough SO yes I feel the same TOO MUCH is just the right amount and we ride all kinds of roads lots of twisty tight stuff ,light to light drag racing , open highway crusing etc thats why power everywhere works the best for all types of riding

Two things are of superordinate importance with regard to all these types and forms of enhanced power and they are; 1) that you still have to be very prudent about where you apply them, and; 2) that you always have to consider that however fast you may go, you must be able to get there and back safely!

So does that mean the over 200hp cam also requires shim under buckets, & cylinder head removal for stronger valve springs due to high rpms ?

You did not!
I screwed up - twas @TriumPhil that commented regarding roll on races and I mistakenly surmised all the rest.
My bad, I was away with the birds!

ITS all very funny anyway that everyone here isnt interested in racing other bikes or reving over 5 k or racing from a stop light etc etc

You are mistaken regarding my comments about most being at 2500 to 5000 "normal riding".
This norm is like 85% and the rest is the fun speed part. I search out and wick the twisties quite a bit and I throw the straight away grease on less, but it actually totals up to a small percentage of my riding time.
Would it be possible to see a Dyno of a typical Rocket with your 210 kit?

So another eleventy three pages of sidetracking for all and sundry. I still would like to see a dyno sheet showing the cams ONLY which take the 170hp stock engined R3 to 200. In fact 200 hp and 180ft UNDER 6800 was the claim, maybe more if Phil is correct!. To match Scorps graph, just with cams ( inlet and exhaust a given). Been done already apparently. There is no doubt we can all get more power than 200 with other parts and more rpm, no dispute at all from me. Or is that an inaccurate statement? Something which is about to happen. I do not expect to get a straight, answer really, but will ask the question again ART. Back to work for me, V Rod fortnight here. One blown and two turboed, tuning bikes with stupid exhausts........ Why do harley riders like so much fuc$ing noise?
