Lets Talk Cams

I am also very interested in JUST cams with no pistons/porting which will make 200/180 without going over 6800rpm. They must be very trick. Maybe .070" from the head to get compression. Stock valve gear or shim under?

YES thats what Ive said we make HP using our pipes BUT you can run anything you like if you dont mind giving away HP to suit your style exhaust We see it all the time 240+ packages that only make 200 HP with the owners intake and exhaust choices

Or, conversely, cams only, with Brutes and proper intake making over 200 rwhp.

Entirely correct, Les and nobody, especially not me, is arguing that anyone should do anything contrary to their own, subjective whims.

Bottom line, as best as I can tell, is that no exhaust system available to the public will make more usable power than Bob Carpenter's creation. The only way to disprove that is on the dyno...

I aked Bob how much power the full kit would make with the TORs and I believe he said 200 hp. Unless I was into drag racing I wouldn't have an exhaust that would discolor without full heat shields. I'm not into racing and would want a nice looking comfortable street bike. In any case, I was happy with 140 rwhp.

As far as I know the Brute system is tops for max hp @ max rpm not saying any different.

My bike will never have a one sided 3-1 system yuk. I'll suffer the power loss to keep my 6 pipe symmetry.

Doesn't need it to be at the top of the power tree.

I bought a big in your face mother of a bike with Two bug eye headlights and Three Mufflers .. Two One side and One on the Other, worst thing Triumph did when they bought out the Roadster was to go to have two plain (oversized) jane run of the mill mufflers, I could have lived with the lack of Colour Options but two bloody great bazookas for mufflers nah!!! and I certainly dont like the look of a Rocket with nothing on the left side except the shaft and final drive housing

Mine's not at the top o' that tree, but it's plenty high enough for me.

I too was not really keen on the cosmetics of an asymmetric exhaust, but in my case it has definitely grown on me and the bike looks exactly like what it is - a slimmed down, lean and mean street-fightin' cruiser.

YEP EXHAUST system styling an interesting subject We at Carpenter Racing design the system to make max power and be lightweight and look good to the majority BUT we have customers like LES that want a wild 3 into 6 system and thats all good and cool looking and ya cant make everyone happy with one style system

I remember reading something about an optional baffle being in development for the Brute. Did that ever pan out? Really, what kept me from buying was the lack of options to keep it at a reasonable sound level.

Here's one with a baffle, but there are other, better choices, I believe. It would be nice (and easier) if Carpenter Racing sourced an optional baffle for their excellent design - heck, they are available off the shelf!
