Jardine Exhaust, Stock Breather, Triumph Tune

Everyone (including myself) seems to fall for that one. I installed the D&D's prior to riding in for the Triumph aftermarket exhaust tune. Bike ran just as good and strong as it did with stock exhaust ... just sounded better. After picking it up and paying for the download, it ran like a turd.
Found out later what the tune actually does, closes the secondaries, so I yanked em!
Fixed the mixture with a PCIII and timing with a GiPRo .... LOVE the results.

I think you're onto something. The mechanics only know what exhaust and model the tunes are for. They've probably never seen the actual fuel tables. I just looked at F1, the main fuel table for cylinder 1. 20226 is for the standard R3 with aftermarket exhaust and no cat. It is fatter at high RPM and TP than 20227. 20219 is the same as 20226 except it's for the Classic.

However, 20222, which is for stock exhaust on the standard R3, has the same F1 table as 20226. There are other differences - in the secondaries and ignition tables.

Anyone can download the Tuneboy program and all the tunes for free.

thanks for the insight I guess this fall either I mount a dobeck thingy and remove the secondaries or get a tuneboy and plunge into the unknown ...

Tuneboy a' Comin

Thanks for all the advice, I ordered my Tuneboy thorugh the group buy! Looking forward to playing with different tunes and feeling the difference.
Was wondering what it cost for the tuneboy.
Im currently emailing back in forth with tuneboy.

Mount a dobeck?
Yank secondary?
Just trying to get a good understanding, so i can make a decision.
Sorry for my confusion.

Right on.
Hopefully tuneboy isnt to costly.
Need a new tune or should i say the right melody.
Not happy with current tune by echo cycle, out of Edmonton Alberta.
Thinking of going back to stock.

Morgo, if price is a factor then you need to get tune ecu as it will run you about 20 bucks US. Maybe a little more Canadian do to the exchange rate. Once you buy the cable and down load the software which is free. I and a bunch of other Captains will have a tune for you. I am not trying to kick Dobek as for what it does is good but it only messes with the fueling. Tune ecu will do everything and more especially if you need to run some diagnostic's and maintenance.

Now if you go back to stock you will definitely be able to sell the Jardines as they are like gold now that they are not made anymore.

I have heard about removing and blanking the O2 sensor . What exactly does this do ?

I was told by a triumph mechanic that there are hundreds of Triumph tunes each one specific for different countries with different homoglophic and emission controls and none of them will make a huge difference to the peformance of the bike !
