Darkside suggestions for the R3T

What brand , and were did ya get it changed ,car dealer or bike ???

I get mine changed at a custom build bike shop. Mostly they work with HD engines, but nothing scares them. They were a little dumbfounded, and glad to hear someone had tried it before me, but not a hesitation.
I've heard stories in other threads of shops not wanting to do the work, and I've heard stories that car shops and Metric bike shops do the work no problem. No consistency that I've noticed.

Riken Raptor on my R3T: DENIED!

I bought the Riken Raptor for my R3T (205/60/16). It looked friggin' huge, but I was certain it would fit since so many folks on this site already installed that tire.

The local Triumph Dealer just called to say that it wouldn't fit. I'm not going to argue over the phone so I asked him to just do the scheduled warranty work and I'll come get the tire later.

What gives? Should any additional work be required to get a 205 CT on a R3T? I mean, I know he doesn't want to do it, but he stated that the fender wouldn't allow the tire to fit. True?

Any other options from the peanut gallery? I suppose I can drop down to a thinner tire than the 205. Ideas?

We had a telephonic conversation yesterday, when I was scheduling the tire swap, and it mirrored the one we had a few months ago when I mentioned I wanted to drop a CT on my Touring. "Foolish, foolhardy and bad move" were all terms thrown out by the staff there. Still, they'll do it if I sign a waiver.

I really like those guys, too, but it appears they've ridden a Rocket III Classic with a CT installed and weren't big fans of the handling. Another bike shop would have installed it for 1/2 price, but I've been loyal to this Dealer and plan to continue to have all my work done there. But still...

im running a 205-60-16 on my r3t what i had to do to get it on was to drop the air down to bout 10 psi it was still a tight fit but once u get past a certain point it goes right on then when u get it bolted back on just air it back up to the pressure u r planning to run it i will be putting one on stb r3t before much longer

No DarkSide for now

OK, these San Diego folks just do not like CT on MCs! No less than two locations refused to install it.

I'm returning the Riken Raptor and just installing Dunlop Elite 3s while I figure out what to do.

I'll be back!

Dan you should check around for an automotive tire installer with a newer touchless tire machine. If you bring in the wheel and tire they should be able to mount the tire on the wheel for you.
