Indeed , although Art always uses the super grippy Metzlers, gets 14000miles even when outriding sport bikes getting 45 mpg, and never has any problems with the stock gearbox, except for the ones with stronger gears and undercut boxes etc etc etc blah blah, etc, blah, I DO AGREE with him on the 18" tyres. The rocket eats sports tyres and in fact will weave in high speed corners with sports 18" tyres on the BST rims. We found the 18 inch rears, for V rods M109s etc with the stiffer sidewall was much better, for tyre life, and less rider fear, more predictable handling. Putting a 250 tyre on the BST improves the steering as well as the 250 has a rounder profile than the 240 , on the same width rim, less bump steer etc.

I dont see any advantage trying to run 17 inch sportbike tires the big ROCKET will chew them up
