Custom rims


The reason not many members have done it is because it is not easy or the the cost out weighs any gains, plus that wheel in the picture would be enough to put me off from even attempting it.

Axle, splines cush-drive etc. You need a Triumph shaped hub.
So either like Blackstone or Taylomade you machine/make a new one to fit
OR
you use the existing wheel - machine the rim off and weld a new rim on.
 
Even modifying a rim say to 18 can be pricey. Myself I wish I would have done a 17 inch also.

I have the BST Carbon wheels on my 09 classic they are 18 inches and Im running a MICH COMMANDER on rear and the Excedra Max front and I really like the combination
 
yes I know about those custom wheels and read there's problem, for such a high price.
But I don't understand that the Suzuki 109 as 140 Tire on back as a shaft drive 18 inch rim and has a huge selection on custom rims , why can't we just put a custom rim and tire that fits the Suzuki and put that on?
What modifications need to be done? Is the hud different? The shaft?If it can be done the rims would be good with out chipping or warping problems?
The reason I'm asking I want to know if it's possible and a good idea? Or bad? And why?
I finally found a guy that can finish my custom tank and duplicate my spoiler and all the stuff I made out of metal, a winter project he is really good
 
Cannot be done directly, for on the Suzuki, if the 109 is anything like the Intruder, the drive hub bolts to the wheel and I am sure the axles are different. Also, the brake rotor...is it gonna line up with where the Rocket caliper wants to be? I doubt it. However much you wish to dream, please do so, but when you wake up, warm your credit card up, what you want will have to be engineered and made from scratch. And as long as you are doing that, make a bunch of wheels and sell some...you may recover some of your investment.
 
I dont think too many Rocket owners are interested in CUSTOM CHOPPER style wheels so no one wants to make wheels that they cant sell
 
More and more companies are expanding their sportbike line ups to include 240 width 18" tires. The BST set is more viable from a tire selection point of view than the stockers....

Sure doesn't appear so to me.
The 17 inch wheels have the most GOOD tires.
Not so much the 18 inchers from what I have seen.
I be thinking a set of light weight 17 inch front and rear may be the ticket.
