just ordered set of metzs for my2009 r3 tourer from jake wilson . paid 340. i though about avon or dunlop. all are around the same price. got about 10,000 mile out of me tzs . back is bald front has a little tread left. i will see what i get for mileage out of this set then maybe try another brand to see what the diffence is.

Got 18900km's out of my rear metz around 12000 mile front one 21000 km.
I do believe that you have set the Guinness Book or World Records for mileage out of Metzler.
My only question is how many miles/km's on the rubber and how many on the cords? lol

Must be some kind of record Marty - 4 times further than I got out of them (4,800kms) and a bit over double what I got from my front Avon.
Really liking the Bridgestone on the back; not just the handling and look of it, but the taller gearing too. With only 7,000km from the last Avon it won't have to do a real lot to impress me all round.

Just accidentally found this on a forum which seems dedicated to tyres. One guy has written to Avon regarding Cobra Tyres & he has posted the reply, here it is & I hope he doesn't mind.

Dear Gary,

Thank you for contacting Avon Tyres. The Cobra features a single tread compound, but uses technology derived from our sport tires to give it amazing handling & grip across all areas of the tread. Our casing design helps to give you a very large contact patch while cornering, by using our system called Advanced Variable Belt Density. This system uses material wound around the tire at a zero degree angle. Each strand is wound farther away as they reach the shoulder of the tire, giving you a giant contact patch while leaning. The strands of material are wound closer together in the center of the tread for added stability and wear resistance. This system gives you the benefits of extra grip on corners and a more stable, wear resistant center patch all while being much more predictable than duel compounds.

Thank you for your interest in Avon Tyres and ride safely.

Has anyone had the same cupping or uneven wear on the front avon as the metz
Im going to try a set of avons next then probably the bridgstone . more interested in the avon because im not keen on a higher profile want to maintain the lower look which is why i chose the bars i have on her they create an illusion of the bike being lower than stock

Mitch, I have not noticed the same cupping as the mezt on all 3 of the Avon fronts I have ran. I also like the grip on them.

Thanks Warp
think ill give them a go just waiting for my rear to wear out so i can buy the set.
my bike feels awful at low speed at the moment with that metz and its flatspots mainly the right side that seems to wear flat

Mitch, I've had no cupping on my front Avons and very even wear. Just trying out the Bridgestone at the moment but if it's not brilliant I'll be going back to Avon on the front.
