I always like to wear a tyre evenly from extremity to extremity, best value for money.
But I find that the standard shocks let you down when pushing the tyre limit as they cause the pegs start making noises.
Although I must admit I haven't been game to push hard in the wet with such a large contact area on the back.
true, this bit of road i'm very familiar with and smooth but when you near its scrapping point and you make an error then your in trouble as just metal is going to digging in the ground and could go sliding down the road, so point taken
I hate the term "chicken strips". It seems mostly to be used as a way of showing off, and it actually proves nothing. Fact is a Rocket can be ridden however you want and can accommodate any and all riding styles. Not everyone gets to ride frequently on the sort of roads that allow fast cornering; it's a bit hard to be scraping pegs if most of your riding is on city streets in traffic - and no one should feel pressured into riding beyond their ability. I dislike talking about chicken strips almost as much as I dislike it when someone says a Rocket can't handle. But just because it can corner with the best of them (or do burn outs or pop wheelies) doesn't mean you have to do it every time you ride.
I wasn't necessarily talking about me. I do a bit of riding in traffic but a lot more where I can push it a little. The large number of roundabouts here just make me hungrier for left handers.

I tend to agree that a little bit of unworn rubber on the outside is more an indicator of caution than fear when working with a machine this big. There is a LOT of weight pushing out on these tires, and a LOT of power coming on aggressively, and if you're not fully comfortable scraping pegs (or boards) around every curve then I say keep the strips... but I think the OP was simply pointing out that for a big girl, the Rocket has the ability to really roll through curves in a surprisingly agile way, and I totally agree!
I say ride how you like, but most importantly ride again tomorrow. If that means leaving nice wide "chicken strips" then leave those strips!
Hate to be a thread hijacker , just wanted to say 2 things i dont like about my rockets handling so far , way to much fork dive under brakes ( im 115kg ) and wallowing arse end when im laying it over in a bumpy sort of corner , i assume both of these can be fixed if enough clams are thrown at the problem ?
