This beast corners!!!

Hate to be a thread hijacker , just wanted to say 2 things i dont like about my rockets handling so far , way to much fork dive under brakes ( im 115kg ) and wallowing arse end when im laying it over in a bumpy sort of corner , i assume both of these can be fixed if enough clams are thrown at the problem ?

Wrecka, I had similar complaints with the suspension on my 2013 roadster. I didn't dump the budget into anything really crazy, but Progressive makes a good set of front and rear springs that firmed my big girl up around curves and improves damping. If you get the +10 mil rear shocks it also gives just a little more clearance at the pegs and makes it slightly easier to pull down into a lean.

I installed the Hagon nitro shocks. Chalk and cheese.
I love em

Hey Norseman, thanks for the heads up . I like the ass down look on bikes so i was thinking of putting a set of shocks that'll lower it about 2inches , that may also take a good amount of weight off the front minimizing fork dive, never tried changing fork springs before sounds a bit daunting lol

I lowered my R3T about an inch with the Hagon Nitros. Love being able to be flat footed at stops. Only 5'7"...

It's a solid look, to be sure, but just keep in mind that while solving your wallowing problem (which good shocks ought to do) lowering the rear end will make it a little tougher to pull her down in corners and will reduce your clearance. There are (I believe) other advantages to pulling down the back end, but you will need to slow down a little more and push the bars a little harder to make it through the apex.

*edit* Looking good is also a solid advantage! You gotta do what you'll be happiest with :)

Set the alarm for 2am and ride around the roundabouts the wrong way .. no need to thank me , that's what I do ... help people  ..hahahahahha

Or come to Canada and ride around them the RIGHT way!

Although our ride may not beat the ****** rockets and sport touring models in some instances..... The ROCKET blows all other cruisers to bits..... Agreed....;)

I don't think I ever compared the beast to a sportbike. Nor did I berate anyone else for having chicken strips. I may be a little excited since I have owned the R3R less than 2 weeks and have already had the opportunity to ride these amazing roads on an animal so large that can tame these roads so well. It has a purpose different to a sportbike but not just to cruise at 45mph like a Hardley looking at the trees.

Wrecka read up on the dangers of lowering the arse end , especially on Roadsters. Send Aussie Bruce a PM and he'll relate his experiences im sure mate.

I'm about 110kg, heavier with the gear, still have the factory set up and have no problems, and do a lot of my riding 2 up, (better half about 60kg). as for handling v the sports guys, went for a 200km odd ride up through the Adelaide hills with the TRC last weekend, had to work at it a bit but stayed with them through all the twisties, only scraped the pegs a couple of times and still have small chicken stripes. As others have said it is a sign of caution, and with these big beasts a bit of caution is always wise

Treat them as a large powerful cruiser , which is what they are and you'll stay upright I reckon. Buy yourself a Speed Triple as well if you want to be out the front through the twisties.
