He was, imo, in the great scheme of things incredibly lucky, Fred.

Mesh Jacket shredded - good job he had added a back protector. Kevlar lined jeans, Good boots. Full face lid well dinged.
Whilst water caused the lack of wheel traction it also lubricated the slide.
Taxi has just collected him for delivery to the airport where he has a flight arranged.

We'd all want support would we not? - If you don't offer it - how on earth can you hope for it?.
In my lifetime - I have had many offers of support from "loan of a fiver" to being taken in by a paramedic following a crash.
