Has anyone ever replaced the rear turn signals with LED strips mounted on the bottom edge of back fender? I found a company online that sales LED strips that are turn signals thinking of doing this. Would it be too much trouble and do y'all think it would be visible enough?

I've been considering this as well, but it'll have to wait until I leave Germany. The laws here are a bit strict. If you do it, let me know how it goes!

Shouldn't be that hard to do, but you will need to put a load equalizer in the circuit so that the flash rate won't be too fast

A guy on the F.B rocket owners page did his, although he didn't use the strips. You can see the LED mounted right under the chrome trim piece on his rear fender, looks pretty good in my opinion

I've been planning to do this with a CustomDynamics setup but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have seen the strip lights done and looks great if done neatly you will as precaution want to replace your flasher unit with an electronic Non Load Sensitive Relay, they are designed for use with LED lights .
I have LED Globes in the Std front indicators and tiny replacement LED rear indicators either side of my number plate which I relocated up on top of guard just above tail light which also has LED globe in it, I already have LED Cree Driving Lights on her and soon I will have J W Speaker LED headlights which will make the bike 100% LED lit

I think a will leave mine well alone. I don’t think making the indicators smaller or less conspicuous is a good idea - too many ***wits not looking where they are going at the best of times and further disguising the indicators would increase the risk of tintops taking you out from behind.
Just my opinion....

the LED's are actually a lot brighter and more visible even thou they are smaller

Yeah I know but. .... As for the pic that Jim posted. .. you have to be right behind the bike to see the indicator. .. I'll leave mine at the back and may put LED bulbs in the standard locations. :)

What mittzy said. Was following an old triumph today that had no blinkers or tail light, not real smart!
