Replacing with LED's

I don’t think making the indicators smaller or less conspicuous is a good idea
Nor do I - and it riles me that most modern bikes have 10W indicator bulbs whereas back in the 80's they were 21W. The LED's bulbs I have in are brighter than 10W tungsten - but still not as bright as a 21w tungsten. I tried slightly more powerful LED bulbs but they interfered with the lens fit.

There are some NEW CREE Q5 AMBER indicator bulbs out there - 5W LEDs. With and without pre-focus. I'd suggest WITHOUT. Though I've not seen one first hand.

Hans - Speakers - You'll love them. They are fussy about height adjustment.

I'll leave mine at the back and may put LED bulbs in the standard locations. :)
Be aware - It seems that the wiring in the rear indicator stems/reflectors MAY be reversed on many bikes.

Mine were and others I know have hit the same issue.

Not a problem with normal bulbs - BIG problem with DIODES. Just swap the wires over on the reflector if they dont work at first.

Yeah I know but. .... As for the pic that Jim posted. .. you have to be right behind the bike to see the indicator. .. I'll leave mine at the back and may put LED bulbs in the standard locations. :)
Very True Tony that is why I kept mine at the very back as you have to be able to see them from both angles as well as from back visibility is Very Important which is why I like chrome and colour on a bike and why I opted for the top box with optional wing with the built in LED brake light a and once I find some suitable LED indicators for it will add them to the box as well so I will have rear indicators in two locations:)

led's for rear lights.

a couple of years back, i saw a victory hammer and it had aftermarket turn, run, and brake lights which wrapped the under edge of the fender. perhaps it was an arlen ness product, but a really sharp alternative does exist. it was either a victory part or aftermarket. the rear fender on the hammers is quite similar to the rocket std & standard as far as angle, size, etc.

It's one reason I fitted the top box I have.

I'm more concerned that they see the brake light. The box came with red led "indicator" repeaters - but they're wired to the brake too.

LEDs have a tiny disadvantage. The actual point of emission is very very concise and small. ime. they need to be located in SHADOW otherwise the output is easily lost in sun glinting off chrome etc.

If buying LED indicators look for one that were made for the LED globe as the ones made for them will have better refractor lenses to better focus and send light out in all directions than indicators that can have either type of globe with same lense

Could I just replace the flasher relay instead of adding a load equalizer?
Yes, that is All I had to do.
For most models that is all that is needed unless you have a Touring as they appear to have built the relay in to the instrument panel on the tank
