Darkside = NO DICE!! in Idaho.

Im still following your tyre choice Richard what are we putting on the front mate, I thought it was a matching BS, but I read you changed you mind :rolleyes:

Whats it gonna be mate :D

Are you still going to try that liquid stuff for balance or beads ?

Put the BS on the front a couple of weeks ago. So far it seems fine. I did really like the 2 Avons I've had on the front and would put one on again in a flash if the BS isn't as good. I have noticed in the recent rain here that the BS throws water out to side like nothing else I''ve seen. Incredible really. And it seems sure footed in the wet and dry too. Might get down to mileage but so far so good.

Read a few mixed reviews about the balance goo. Seems to plug small leaks OK provided they're right down the middle and seems to work OK for balance. Might be worth a try but I was having trouble finding a local distributor. I'll look again and send you a PM. Will be in few days as I'm in the middle of moving house.

Back in the day when cars had points I broke down in the middle of nowhere. The cam follower on the points had broken off. I was able to get mobile by wedging a small piece of stick in there and it stayed there and worked fine for months. Maybe because it worked OK car manufacturers should have used sticks instead of whatever the plastic was made of but I suspect having something designed and manufactured specifically for that purpose made more sense. I feel the same way about tyres.

I have no doubt that car tyres work fine on bikes, provide a softer ride, more mileage and perhaps more grip, but they were designed for cars where the steering and tracking dynamics are completely different to those of a bike. If I test rode a bike and had to lean or counter steer just to go down a straight piece of road I'd call it a piece of crap and say it was downright dangerous - and it really does look silly guys. Trust me, it does. Why would I want to inflict that on myself willingly? Certainly not just to save a few bucks.

Each to his own but I'd no sooner put a car tyre on a bike than bike tyres on a car. When the day comes I can't afford to put proper tyres on my Rocket, I stop riding it.

Car tire, bike tire, Harley,Honda,black, red, blue, two wheels,three wheels,it really doesn't matter to me .
It's not what you ride .
It's that you ride .
Your all brothers to me .
To each there own .

Just sayin' why I wouldn't.......... ;)
And backing up my earlier comment that the Bridgestone is an excellent choice. It's a (small) step closer to something with the best of both while not compromising at all on rideability. It's a softer ride, wears longer, generally cheaper and has a wider contact patch than either Metz or Avon.

It's not what you ride.
It's that you ride.

Well said.

some like ugly bikes,
some like black ones.
some like 1 headlight,
some like 2 headlights.
some "like" the 240 metz,
some "like" the car tires.

Different strokes right?
but we all like the wind
and slicing through it as fast as we can
even pushing the safety envelope sometimes...
life is meant to live, enjoy it.
To each his own.

Yeah, the Bridgestone is so good that Bridgestone recalled them on the Tourer and says that its tire is not designed for the Triumph Rocket. Apparently several have come apart because of the torque of the R3 140 C.I. But it's interesting that I haven't heard of not one C T coming apart or causing any problems. There are many makes and models using C Ts now and I have not read one bad report. I've watched many videos of bikes going through twisties and most leaning enough to scrap pegs and floorboards. How much more can one lean a bike? Anyway, not to take away from the B.S. tire cause I wouldn't hesitate to use one but, I'm at the point owning now two Rockets I have to go to the darkside.

Sure you can scrape the pegs more on a car tire what with the extra counter steering you do whether you notice it or not. That and tha fact the radius when flicking the bike over is different then a MC tire. MAkes for a real saving buying alll the pegs and or floor boards. Oh and draging metal slows **** down. try a different line in the curve.
I no people will argue about the differences but hey most are mathematically challenged and do not see it. Or at least challenged when it come to Geometry and Trigonometry. Its like I used to tell my students it cool to be able to rattle off the Law Of Cosines but can you tell me when you would use it?

Lets look at the car tire issue from a never before seen angle;

1- Humans were not designed to fly, and we have been to the moon;

2-humans are not designed to breath under water, and we have been to the bottom of the ocean;

3- humans are not designed to run over 10mph, and we have been up to several hundred miles per hour;

Any questions?:)
