Carpenterized Touring

The bike is completely tractable at normal speeds. When I picked it up, I was a little afraid of it being too twitchy at low speeds, that didn't happen at all. Many here seem to be taking my opinions the wrong way, I'm certainly not putting Carpenter or the package down. The bike is scary fast, I haven't had it over 6500 rpms yet, to be honest (rode with the wife on the back today, along with a friend and his wife on a Sportster, LOL). Just because I'm not a (searching for a non offensive way to word this) unthinking cheerleader, doesn't mean I'm unhappy, or think I made a mistake. I've seen many dyno graphs (from 3500 up). I didn't expect to gain a lot of power at 3000 rpm, but I certainly didn't expect to lose any, that's all. The bike is great, I'm happy I did it, you just have to use the gears now, rather than just roll on. I'm just kind of surprised no one else seemed to notice or mention it, that's all, maybe they all came off stock bikes,.

I enjoyed the review, thanks. Very objective. I created a post a while back about keeping the Rocket stock or to upgrade. I've watched the Carpenter racing youtube video when they tested the bike at the drag strip, very impressive. All mods have a purpose and I think you said it perfectly, "there is obviously a lot of power there, but how much more can you use in the real world". Maybe this is one mod that belongs on the track. Looking forward to your future post on the subject.
Cheers
WELL thats the point you have 3 times the power if you want it but the bike runs like a stocker when cruising along and runs on pump gas SO your not dealing with a bucking bronco and you can take your wife riding for a day of real world cruising and you dont feel like your on a RACE BIKE

Tripps wait until you take her above 6500 I suspect you will be amazed. Mine is a little different but then I force feed her so she is spunky all over down right mean up top but if I wack her at 2500 your going for a ride. The planetary drive is already spinning the Supercharger 30,000 rpms at 2500 so the [power delivery is a wee bit different. Like I said wait until you spin her up higher I suspect your face will hurt and you will be a little shocked.

Too each his own, it was just a comment, a thought from someone who is still leaning about what effects the mods produce and why they may be desirable.
Cheers

I'm already shocked at 6500, trust me. :D Actually, I asked Bob if he'd ever installed a supercharger on one, he said he didn't like the setup available much. I've thought about it, actually.

YOU do understand you have a bike that is bipolar now smooth and tractable at low end and cruising and a MONSTER RUSH of power as the revs rise SO rev that baby up and shift at 7500 next time and your gonna be grinnin from ear to ear

WOW you better ride this like it is and then see if you want more

Yes when you look at it there has been a lot of problems with people who have went with a supercharger. Most of these problems are from installation. They are a touchy animal. Some of us have had great success in the long run but again its about the install and then tuning. At the same time TTS has improved components but no matter how much you improve one if it is not installed correctly there will be costly problems. I count myself as being lucky, but then when I did my install Iwent at it from the Machinist point of view not the typical bike shop mentality. Pedro from down under has had his SC kit longer then I have and also did his own install with little to know problems.

When you look at Bobs kit it is also made for simplicity of installation and yet there are still some guys that assembled it wrong. This is why sending it to Bob might be a better choice then turning your own wrenches. Once you get a bike like mine you have to work on it as most dealers would tell you you have to send it to NASA!!!!
