Bull,
Not re-opening the can and I take no offense at all; primarily because no one else's opinion of me or what I do is more important to me than my own!
The roads are very different in the Europe and US. The backroads which we ride here are in much worse condition than most country roads in the US. The roads have uneven surfaces horrible tears and holes. Not just a pot hole here and there, but miles of horrific surface. There are tremendously more unmarked curves and narrow roads. For while I'm here riding I'd prefer to stick with what I know which is the MT.
As for the excellent combination, I was simply making an observation that it is so much greater than the Metz. I could also make the observation that the Metz were such sh** it could have begged me to never want another MT on the rear of the beast at all?!?! I didn't try the Avon/Bridgey combo due to some sort of amazing statistical proof and scientific evaluation. I tried them because of the experience and OPINIONS of many of the riders right here on this forum. I value those opinions and was willing to try something different.
I've read a ton of opinions regarding MT vs CT as well. I don't care nor am I qualified to argue which is better! But I am willing to try the CT in an environment I feel safer and more comfortable in. So yes, when I get to the states and my MT needs replaced, I will try a CT. It doesn't have anything to do with being cheap. It has nothing to do with joining a cult. It has to do with experiencing it for myself so that I may form my own opinion on whether or not it is better or worse for me. If it's better than the combo I have now, I'll stick with it. If it's worse, I'll go back. If I hear of another potentially better combination, I may try that as well.
Thank you for the entertainment! I'm certainly glad you and HansO were able to kiss and make up as well
