Avon Cobra 150/80/17

I was in on that thread, too, Hans.:kick:

LMK if you'll be coming out my way, olbull. There's always hot coffee, cold beer and a comfortable bed available to any wayward travelers.;) We also have some terrific riding right here in our backyard.:)

My Dear cardinal93 & you, HansO,
"I love my new motorcycle tires!
They have really improved my motorcycle's handling!
Think I'll put on a car tire on when I get back in the US."

WTF???

Unless there are inherent differences in the roadway materials used in Germany versus the US, I can see absolutely NO justification or logical rational for the uses of a car tire!
Hold on! There is only one reason - the bird syndrome, cheap, cheap, cheap.
Semi - Respectfully,
1olbull

Bull,
Not re-opening the can and I take no offense at all; primarily because no one else's opinion of me or what I do is more important to me than my own!
The roads are very different in the Europe and US. The backroads which we ride here are in much worse condition than most country roads in the US. The roads have uneven surfaces horrible tears and holes. Not just a pot hole here and there, but miles of horrific surface. There are tremendously more unmarked curves and narrow roads. For while I'm here riding I'd prefer to stick with what I know which is the MT.
As for the excellent combination, I was simply making an observation that it is so much greater than the Metz. I could also make the observation that the Metz were such sh** it could have begged me to never want another MT on the rear of the beast at all?!?! I didn't try the Avon/Bridgey combo due to some sort of amazing statistical proof and scientific evaluation. I tried them because of the experience and OPINIONS of many of the riders right here on this forum. I value those opinions and was willing to try something different.
I've read a ton of opinions regarding MT vs CT as well. I don't care nor am I qualified to argue which is better! But I am willing to try the CT in an environment I feel safer and more comfortable in. So yes, when I get to the states and my MT needs replaced, I will try a CT. It doesn't have anything to do with being cheap. It has nothing to do with joining a cult. It has to do with experiencing it for myself so that I may form my own opinion on whether or not it is better or worse for me. If it's better than the combo I have now, I'll stick with it. If it's worse, I'll go back. If I hear of another potentially better combination, I may try that as well.

Thank you for the entertainment! I'm certainly glad you and HansO were able to kiss and make up as well :D :bch:

Right **** neighborly of you, TriumPhil.
We (brother & I) will be visiting The Wall in DC. before heading back west to Sturgis.
I don't know where that relates to your whereabouts; but, I would indeed enjoy meeting up with you and those AWESOME RED, WHITE & BLUE BOUNCING TITZ!!!
:roll::roll::bch:
PS: What's an LMK?

cardinal93,
I intended absolutely no offense. I was merely shocked and confused by your logic.

I love your line about no one's opinion of you is more important than that of yourself. :D

Your explanation of those euro roads sucking so bad does make some sense to me if you implying the CT may stabilize and provide better traction in similar fashion to a tractor tire. :D

As for just wanting to try something different, HELL YES and why not!
However, I have found most men find ergonomic scientifically tested and proven reasons to prefer the wearing of male clothing. But, in a free country men are also free to try women's clothing if they feel it may work better for them.
Best Regards,
1olbull

After contemplating hanso's post (#17) I decided to take the front wheel off and drive it to the tyre shop cos it was raining, so it is still shinny new. When the weather clears I will break it in.

I don't want to try the CT here because it would feel as foreign as a tractor tire...I'll stick to the MT on these shoddy roads and try the CT back home on better roads. Who knows, may absolutely hate it, but at least I will know for myself.

You lost me somewhere with the ergonomic clothing  But, I can say, seeing a grown man with a beard in a dress cruising down the road on a rocket might make me laugh so hard I'd loose control of my body's bladder functions :D Don't think it would even matter if he was riding on a CT or MT :p

If it were an non-reversible change, I'd probably wait for more concrete facts and scientific evidence. But simply trying a CT costs and risks little. There's no evidence that suggests any of us should have a bridgey on the back...not made for our bike, not the right size, hell, apparently some shops won't even install them. But someone tried it, liked it, told someone about it, who tried it and told someone else, and before you know it there's a lot of us riding a MT that wasn't "made" for or "fits" our bike. I guess the bridgey riders must be some kind of cult!!:D:rolleyes:

Not a cult thing at all. I went for the BS purely on performance posts on what other riders have posted NOT price so much. I like the BS and find the shape of it is better suited for corners because there is more tyre on the road. The guy at the tyre shop today asked me why I was not replacing the Metz with another Metz, I told him that I was not really happy with the performance of the Metz front or rear, he then tells me that the Metz tyre we get on the NEW bike are already up to two years old:eek:. And that they have started to go hard. He also said that BS will not warrant a BS tyre on a rocket ( don't know why) and if something was to go wrong with the tyre causing an accident he ( the tyre fitter) will not be covered and could be sued for installing an unsuitable tyre. He also mentioned that BS may be working on releasing a suitable tyre for the rocket. Having said that I am still happy with the BS.

JM2CW Mitzzy.. I seem to remeber a post way back saying the BS Exedra 55 on an R3 suffered cord and casing damage due to the developed traction power..

I guess it's the extra diameter and height between the rim and the road flexing the tyre wall, so be mindful
