Avon Cobra 150/80/17

My Dear cardinal93 & you, HansO,
"I love my new motorcycle tires!
They have really improved my motorcycle's handling!
Think I'll put on a car tire on when I get back in the US."

WTF???

Unless there are inherent differences in the roadway materials used in Germany versus the US, I can see absolutely NO justification or logical rational for the uses of a car tire! I'll Give You One I GRIPS Better and ALSO IN THE CORNERS
Hold on! There is only one reason - the bird syndrome, cheap, cheap, cheap. NEVER PART OF THE REASON I SWITCHED TO THE D/SIDE THE METZ WAS CRAP PROVEN BY THE FACT THAT I WAS RIDING WITH A D/S RIDER WHO WAS GETTING 100% GRIP WHILE I WAS STEPING OUT and if you had read some of my posts you will see I am going to try a MC as I AM OPEN Minded..... are YOU
Semi - Respectfully, I DOUBT IT

Now come on , guys, we're all friends, to each his own.
My thoughts Exactly I just get sick of people insinuating

2 That I don't know what the F##k I am doing

I don't condemn anyone for running a Bike tyre and I certainly don't try to tell people they should be running a D/S but I will defend any one that does from those that THINK they know better BUT have not TRIED ONE

Relax, Hans, (Lorazepam works for me) I be not infringing on your freedom of choice - far from it.

#1: You missed my whole point. You are perhaps so sensitive about your cult darkside beliefs, you have become prematurely inflamed. My comments had NOTHING specific to do with car tires. The man exclaimed how much better and great his bike performed with his new tires. Why on earth would one then wish to change to an UNPROVEN car tire. Unless perhaps he wishes to join the cult or just save a few bucks.:D

#2: When I see some legitimate tested proof - NOT useless opinion, which is all I have seen from darksiders, I shall pay it serious OPEN MINDED attention. I believe your claim of supposed better grip and performance on corners to be untested, unproven and merely subjective opinion at best.

Freedom to use the tire of your choice - ABSOLUTELY, my friend!
Freedom to make unsupported, untested and unsubstantiated claims that car tires on motorcycles are BETTER than the tires designed for either vehicle is contrary to the known science to date and may be misleading and detrimental to others who have not thoroughly researched the concept.

Your guv is at least, if not more, pinko liberal than mine so having freedom of choice is fast becoming a moot point for us both.:D

In closing, please consider that I have recently become a child of the NEXUS COMPLEX.

C'mon, y'all!!! We were having such a pleasant and productive conversation before this diverged, once again into a CT vs. MT pissing contest. Let's not fall back in to that same redundant, miasmatic trap... to each their own.

For the record, the Michelin Commander II 140/75 17 is a fantastic tire and it carries a V speed rating and, I believe, a 65 load index rating. If I didn't want to replace it witha a new, matching rear tire at the same time, it would easily give me over 10,000 miles of service or about 1,500 miles more than it has logged to date. It has dramatically lightened the feel of the bike by about 200 pounds, as well as having correspondingly decreased rider input (countersteering and low speed maneuvering effort, etc.) much to my delight. It tracks beautifully, is very good in wet weather, looks terrific and grips very well in the twisties.

But, our beasts with a 130/70 17 up front is all that much more improved overall and it really makes for an extremely comfortable, amazingly flickable handling and neutral feeling machine rather than the major handful she is in her OEM state. B'stone just added that size tire to it's Exedra Max line and I'm probably going to buy it and, for a change, that will give me a matched set front and rear.

I was a bit concerned about the load rating of 62(584 lbs.) on the 130, but it, combined with the radial Max in the rear's load rating of 86 (1,168 lbs !!!), should be good and safe for the type of riding I do.

BTW, the Max I'm contemplating for the front has a W speed rating, far and away more than I will ever need for sustained riding purposes and I should be able get it for about $100, making my new front and rear come to about $260 total unmounted cost!:D

That's some funny chit right there, Hans.

Not looking to pick a fight, mind you. I'm just sayin...;)

BTW, just exactly, WTF is 1olbull trying to say, sapience-wise???

Hans,
heh heh heh It looks like we cross posted.

I have said my piece regarding the CT subject and shall let it go without further response.

On a personal side:
Please re read your #1, #2 and your words condemn. Did I EVER say this?
As far as your #2, that is a very cheap and low blow, Amigo. One that I believe my record of posts on this forum regarding you and about what the Fu*k you know prove to be unsubstantiated and surely undeserved. You hurt me on that one, man.:(

In closing - I would indeed put this where the sun don't shine, as you suggested.
BUT . . . .

wait for it . . . .

It's worth the wait . . .

I don't have a DARKSIDE :D

:bch:

Good to hear about the Michelin Phill!
I just put that same Michelin on the front of my R3R along with the Excedra Max.
I hope they play well as I am soon off on a criss cross ride of the US.
1olbull
still crying
still in pain - NOT:D

I'm still thinking of using the Michelin 140/75/17 on the front as but I don't think I would want to go down to a 130/70/17 as I already have an extra 20mm (3/4") in the rear shocks

BTW, just exactly, WTF is 1olbull trying to say, sapience-wise???

What you missed THE BOOK LAUNCH .... now that was some Funny Sh1t :D
