Avon Cobra 150/80/17

Anyone tried these on the front yet? Opinions?

Yep.. I got 13000 ks on my cobra, very good all round.
Cobra on the back from memory I got about 10000.

I would fit Cobras again even tho' my rear tyre blew out near the end..
Mixed riding but mainly 2 up and moderated to preseve precious cargo

I am very happy with the rear BS excedra 55.. but the shallow new tyre tread depth on the G701, front is concerning milage wise but it perfoms well, Cobra front next time:)

The first thing I did when I bought my used R3 was to get those hard scary Metzlers off my bike. The front tire was worn but the rear was a new one. Anyone want to buy it? I don't really care how many miles I get on the Cobras because every turn feels safe. I primarily ride the coast range mountains in central California and don't need any extra slippage than what I intentionally provide with the throttle.

Nah! I murdered the Metz already. Now I have the Bridgestone on the rear, and love it.
I am quite happy with the Avon while it is not as quick steering as some it is a lot better than the Metz, I am debating as whether I try the Michelin Comander II in a 140/75/17 or another Avon when I try the Bridgstone Excerdra Max on the back
Thought I should add I must be hard on frt tyresas I will be lucky to see 7500- 8000km out of the frt avonand have noted the last couple of times it looks like it is getting hot coming down the mtn as it is abnormally roughed up a fair bit, probally go the Michelin as I have yet to have a Michelin that didn't like to be pushed
Hey Anthony, I hope that is ft/ lb torque in your signature
163.94 ft/lb = 222.272.... Newton metres so that quite impressive

Yes Hans is ft/lb, I clearly got that wrong. oops.
My front Metz is 6500 klms old and has cupped... I too must be hard on fronts but I think I am Harder on the rears cos the rear Metz took up smoking then died of un-natural causes, hmm maybe natural causes on the back of a rocket:eek:
I questioned the guy on the factory tour as to WHY THE HELL the Metz????
He said it was the best tyre that the testing tean had found and that there is no special deals or arrangements with Metz over this fittment... I told him the the testing team should be having a relook

I have the Cobra up front and the Exedra Max on the rear, new rubber this riding season. Handles and rides great. 1600 miles so far, including about 200 in the rain.

I was impressed with the rain performance. Love them over all.

Just got a price from Brisbane Motorcycle Tyres for the Avon Cobra 150/80R17V @ $225 fitted, getting it fitted tomorrow cos the Metz is bald 2" right of centre.
