2016 KTM 1290 SDR SE. 2012 K1600 GTL Schwinn S-30
We had some unseasonably warm weather last weekend so I went on a mission to trade my 2013 S3 SE on a new or like new R3r, I have 3 triumph dealers all close enough to visit in the same day and all of them were sold out of their 1st shipment of R3r's!!!! It's still winter here! I think motorcycles best kept secret is finally out, anyhow getting antsy for a new steed I picked up a new leftover black 2015 KTM superduke $14k. Gentlemen, if this bike can't get me to forget about the R3 nothing will. I took the senic route home and kept it under 6500rpm (as well as I could) so for comparing them all I can say is the power compares well and my throttle arm didn't go numb! only bike so far I can say that about. If you ride solo and want R3 power in a lighter package look no further, sorry the s3 may be faster than the r3 but it sure don't feel like it. anyhow i'm still not selling my r3 acc's yet.

I'm looking at the 690 and Husky's 701 family. I'll need to thin out the stable first, though, so the DR and Norton will have to go.

I see you are in Carol Stream, IL. Did you check Woodstock KTM/Triumph? I bought my '16 in October and I guess I was 1 of 5 people who called about it. I went on a Saturday and they got the crate the day before. Some guy took it out same day crate showed up and said he would think about it. I bought the beast the next day haha :D

I think the problem is they hardly have any models on the floor. They probably get 1 every so often and if it goes it goes. I haven't checked the Woodstock dealer in a while but from the looks they haven't had one since I bought in October.

nice steve... this is a great forum for the 1290 KTM Super Twins Forum - Active topics
i was waiting for the gt version and its got some nice additions but priced above 20 k.. ill do what you did and geta 15 for 13k. for the diff i can do custom paint and even bst carbon rims. im sure the adjustable windshield and cruise control from the 1290gt will work on the 1290 r also.
r3 stock .17 p/wht
1290 stock .40 p/wt more than double... glad to know i wasnt the only one whose throttle arm went numb on the r3.

yep I bought it at woodstock I always make them my last stop because they are the most willing to deal on any non harley bikes. I will probably give mcc the service though since they have been ktm dealers longer i would expect them to know how to navigate warranty claims or parts requests. now another warm weekend please.

YES STEVO I rode the SUPERDUKE and its not a bike I would want to spend much time on ITS just another naked sportbike thats not comfy enough and not as smooth or as fast as a KAW ZX14 Im not trying to bust on your new purchase I hope your happy with it as it fits your riding habits better than mine
