2012 Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster
So I am reading that some 2012 rockets have been detuned or something? Is this true and how do I know if my rocket is one of them? I already ordered the cable to update my bike for future hardware so please fill me in.

THanks

2012 Roadsters still had the restriction in the first 3 gears that was on all Rockets until 2014. Easy to rectify. ;)

Do I need to dyno it if I haven't done any upgrades or modifications?

If so, why do you want a tune? :D
Unless you improve intake (replace the air filters) and exhaust at minimum, opening up the first three gears just seems pointless to me.
I'd recommend doing all the above and THEN get a good dyno tune.

Ok what am I missing? Why are there specific tunes if you still have to take it to a dyno?

The available tunes were made for specific motors with specific accessories - NOT yours!
They will be ball park "OK" but NOT the best for your individual bike.
Even if you & I rode the exact same year and model of bone stock bike, one will be faster.
Having each tuned on a dynamometer will pretty much even things out.

The restriction in power in the old tunes was done by closing the secondary throttle plates. You will gain significant power by using tuneecu to change all of the values in the secondaries table to 100. If you have tors the tune is 20355. If not the tune is 20352.
