Been reading some of the reviews and of course lurking here :) It seems that there have been some good changes made on the '11 and some not so good ones. First, what I don't like is footpegs being mounted farther back, I'm a 6'2". Also, it's 5th gear limits it to 125 mph??

One the positiive side is some changes to the motor.

Can the gearing be changed or is that some internet myth??

Can the footpegs and controls be easily moved??

Should I just keep an eye out for a '10 instead of an '11??

I can live with the black or BLACK color options :p

Thanks in advance for your help ;)

I just got an 11. I'm 6'4" 250lbs and the peg placement is comfortable for me. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that I've been riding a 2000 Yamaha R1 for 10 years prior, so the peg placement is way forward than what I am used to. If you are used to riding cruisers it may be to far back for you. Try to sit on both and see what is most comfortable for you.

As far as the 5th gear limiter, I believe that is easily fixed by hooking up a GiPro or Tuneboy (someone else can correct me if i am mistaken).

I went with the matte black option because Triumph used radar absorbing paint from the stealth fighters on it, plus its faster than all the other colors. :D

I appreciate the reply! After riding Harleys all my life, I spent about 6 years riding Hayabusas. The biggest problem for me was the footpeg location and my screwed up left knee. I know that being a sportbike, the pegs are mounted high and back for a reason but I would still be riding a Busa if it didn't KILL my left knee. My current ride is a Harley Fatbob which has the controls rather far forward and that fits me just fine. Once I sit on an '11 R3, I'll be able to tell how it feels.

I understand now, it's a limiter and not the gear itself. That makes more sense

On another note, I really like the matte black. We have a local guy that does phenominal pinstriping and if I get one, I'll be paying him a visit.

comfort

I,m 6'2 as well and I found the R3Touring to be far more comfortable.
You might want to consider that instead of a Roadster?

I dont think there is a difference in the foot peg position of the 10 & 11 Roadster ?

Personally I like the floor boards .

And well as for the speed limiter you were correct it can be alterd with Tune Boy along with the rev limiter. This will give you enough speed to do what you need.

as for the matte black being the fastest color I would not aggree with that as with the speed limiter and the 125 mph H rated tires she is not set up for speed any more. This can be corrected and color does not matter.

The Roadster still has speed rated tires doesn't it? It's the Touring that has H's ... or did they down grade both? I haven't looked a Roadster over closely enough to know that ... I just knew I didn't like the position of the pegs and different seat. I guess I'm used to my old standard with Classic boards now ... Boards are the ****, took a little bit to get used to them, but once I did I'll never want to go back to pegs. Makes the ride so much nicer to be able to move your feet around.

I'm not confident that the posted review is correct regarding the peg location. The Roadster model moved the pegs back from the locations on the old Standard model. I don't believe that they would have moved them any further back between the 10 and 11 model years. This reviewer may have had his years confused.

Same concern regarding the changes to the motor. I think he may be thinking of the changes between the Standard and the Roadster.

The speed limiter is correctable with the ***FREE*** TuneECU software. no sweat.

Can the gearing be changed or is that some internet myth?? Myth unless you have ALOT of money to custom build some sort of arrangement.

Can the footpegs and controls be easily moved?? The key is the rails that the pegs hang off of. The older Standard rails should fit on the Roadster if you are inclined. You should confirm that with the dealer if you are interested.

Should I just keep an eye out for a '10 instead of an '11?? There's a real nice '10 in matte black for sale in Virginia. PM Bryon540.
