Rocket R and Rocket GT video

Rocket 3 and the Rocket 3 GT - orders taken from tomorrow!!!!

Just Got this in my inbox - Triumph obviously keen to sell as many as they can before anyone even rides one!!!

Triumph have just announced the release of 2 New Models following on from the massive success of the Triumph Rocket TFC.

These models are the Rocket 3 and the Rocket 3 GT . We all know both these bike will be massively popular so Triumph are giving all interested customers the opportunity to be at the front of the queue and get your name onto the first production of the bikes.

Full details will be released at the end of November but they are giving a guide price of around £20,000

They are accepting orders from 10am Thursday 1st August so if you are interested in ordering one please feel free to contact the sales team on 01733 223444 and they will discuss everything with you. If you missed out on the TFC then this is your opportunity still to get a new Rocket.

The TFC made sense to reserve because they were only 750 units. Why reserve the first production model, now???
To be the firsts?
For me, doesn't makes sense

The bike makes essentially the same power as an RIII with intake/exhuast/tune.

Normally the counter point to that would be, "but it wont once the new one has intake/exhaust/tune" except....

locked ecus universally from mama Triumph.

Until Power Commander is released it's a dead end upgrade path.

So this is already sure? ECU is utterly locked? I felt it was a lot more effective to have the ECU tuned directly, so that could be a real setback.
But I think I won't be able to resist the GT anyway. The first 15 horses (from the TFC) should be rather easy to find, at least.
For the rest of the missing herd, time will tell. There will be a way.

"I know there is no way I will get my wife to bend her legs up that high and to be comfortable for any length of time."
Yes, I had that same problem with one of my "X" wives! Ha! sorry, couldn't resist;)

I think they look nice, but I'm too old to get another new bike. And like I've said before, the big draw back for me is the fact that the engine is totally different from the old R3's. I don't think any parts of the old engines are compatible with the new version. Maybe the spark plugs, coils and oil filter. I've got 3 Roadsters on the road, and a spare engine. I'm set for the rest of my life!:)

What has been seen cannot be unseen.

I think I saw a gnat, no it was a nit! ;):p:D:roll::roll::roll:

Besides that where the he!! is the built in British heritage 'Lucas' electric gremlin bell that just like the old fashioned versions doesn't ring! ;):D

It shows "Clutchless shifting is available".... what you think about that?

I like the bike a lot but it's not intended for long trips caring luggage... girlfriend or wife. It's just a big arse sports bike is all it amounts to. Even the saddle bags that are available is way to small. Like mentioned I could learn to cut back on the packing but geezz

A bike that can tote all my junk and have a comfortable ride is what I'd be looking for if I was in the market. Personally I don't think my Roadster is comfortable..... as it should be.

A Triumph Trophy SE ABS would be a way better bike for all the above. I'm getting old I guess.

What the bike does or doesn't do is irrelevant to the post I made. I am pointing out that the figures are freely available for anybody to see. It's not a cover-up or glossing over some like to insinuate. I would imagine Triumph are covering their arse with a locked ecu, iirc Harley landed themselves in hot water not too long ago by releasing an aftermarket device capable of changing factory setting thereby bypassing emission compliance. It would seem logical that the next step would/ could be going after manufacturers that leave their control systems open for consumers to do the same.

In all honesty though do you really think the new Rocket will forever remain untuneable?

I agree, they're not selling it based on power, and certainly not hiding it, it's on the landing page at the Triumph site.

Yes.

Part of upcoming EURO standards, I can't remember if it's only a proposal or already in effect, is that the ECUs are locked.

Other recent Triumphs still don't have ECU access, 3+ years on.

Dynojet is getting on CARBs bad side too, all their new/upcoming devices have hard limitations programmed into them, I'm told by a local tuner.

It's going to need a standalone to control fuel and spark, in concert with the stock ECU to run all the electronics and safety things.

Not an easy proposition.

I bet the power difference between the TFC and the R/GT is literally only how far the throttle blades open when at full throttle on the grip.

It's a nice, pretty, defanged rocket that's more approachable and safer. It will appeal to a different crowd of riders.
