Will HD Grips fit the R3?

I've got a 2005 RIII and the grips are DONE.

I've been looking for replacements, but all I can seem to find are the KuryAkyn Iso Grips (Never really been a fan) and the stock Rocket replacements.

I'm looking for something a bit smaller in diameter to make it easier to hold on tight with gloves - like a MX style grip - but all I've found is grips for Harleys.

Will HD grips fit on the R3? Or is there another option, like grips for some of the more popular metric bikes?

Don't really want to mess with the throttle tube unless I have to - much rather hook up the throttle cables and go.

TIA for any and all help.

I would think that any grip with the right ID would fit. Most bike shops have universal ones, or heated grips designed for 1" Bars that aren't too thick.

while I think most bar ends are 1", allowing most grips to fit, what ya have to be careful of is the diameter of the part that holds the throttle cable ends..if this part of the grip isn't the right size, it will bind in the switch housing that holds it on..that's the problem I ran into with my Avon grips that were supposed to fit a Rocket III..I think they sent me the wrong one, because it's too big to turn freely once the switch housing is screwed back together...grrrrr...gonna call 'em up and see if they can do anything for me..I've long since lost the receipt...

Avon Grips

I have Avon grips on my Roadster and they work just fine. You have the wrong part number. I had the same problem when I bought mine. Had to send them back for the right ones.

Harley grips have a different throttle cable connector than most other bikes. I'm not sure you'll be able to get them to work.

Harley grips mounted to our beasties will almost surely cause a massive oil leak, the electronics to take a crap and the triumph logos to self destruct. Don't do it!!!

I have HD 12" ape bars, triumph grips and universal bar end because HD bars dont have ends. I find the HD bars much easier to ride with.

Same issue with the Avons, couldn't be arsed to send them back so rounded the housing back a bit and it's sweet now. Nice grips too :D
