CES, RAMAIR, TuneboyLIVE, PC-V, no screen, small hard bags, secondaries removed.

If I stay at or near the speed limit on the freeway I regularly see 40+mpg.
Around town it's more like 25-30mpg depends on if I'm playing or not.
Have gotten as little as 90 miles out of a tank from a combination of stop n go traffic and riding like an asshat.

It's all in the tune. If your staying at or near 14.7:1, like the stock tunes, you'll get good mileage....
No one I know tunes for 14.7:1, you'd be leaving a lot on the table if you did, so as soon as you do headers and get it tuned you get the Triple mileage hit: richer afr targeted, more air so more fuel, more inclined to ride harder.

Tuning is a philosophy...power or touring. I have achieved 46 mpg or 170 hp out of the same bike...but not at the same time. Figure out what u want and go for it. However, be forewarned, you will not achieve a fire breathing dragon that gets 50 mpg...just sayin...

Yeah, pretty much spot on.

Another reason either a PC-V with a map switch or TuneboyLIVE makes sense, either will let you go from power to economy at the flip of a switch.

Can you map differently by gear with the TuneBoyLIVE? - I don't know about you but I do NOT use the throttle the same in each gear.

In theory you could had 10 different maps in a PCV - One per gear and the "Map Switch". I now have a decent baseline (per gear) via the A/T. After my run home/back - I will be leaning out 5th a bit around 3000-4000rpm and under 40% throttle. I'm not doing it now before a long run - just in case I screw up.

90 miles to empty the tank - Well done!.

My recent trip, my best fillup showed 38mpg. Heavy grades and twisties made that hard to maintain. Not to mention stops, turns, rain and so forth.

This has been a very informative thread. Now I understand why people get power commanders. I certainly appreciate the fuel economy my roadster came with stock, but sometimes a "fire breathing dragon" is required. So is the PC-V switch something one can flip while riding, or is it more like a re-download like tuneEcu?

With the add on Auto tune gadget, you can select your map on the fly. So far as I know, you need the PC-V and the Autotune, and that is spendy.

Let's call a spade,a spade.. when I saw my bike for the first time I KNEW at 2300 cc, it wasn't going to be a fuel efficient ride. But as my father in law said,he owned several ferrari over his lifetime, the cost of the fuel will never exceed the enjoyment .

Yep, I know there's only so much that can be done with these bikes economy wise...but I mean to find the happiest of the happy mediums.

The BASIC PCV has the option to have 2 "sets" of maps. If you use AutoTune it takes one of those sets. ON THE FLY FLIPPABLE
