Same as others, pledge all over the bike. Matte paint and most waxes don't get along very well.

After a year of only soap and water I tried pledge, work beautifully on matte paint and doesn't add too much luster when it dries. Those "matte specific" Protestants like Harley denim spray feel identical to pledge to the skin, same consistence and add the same look, but smell like white, so pledge it is.

I am interested in what wax most of you use. I am currently using ice but, I think I may switch to a paste.

I only want to wax it once a year. I would rather be riding then polishing.

It is impossible to keep it clean with only one wash/wax a year unless you are a fair weather rider with no night time riding and live in a place where you only get to ride one month a year, only way to keep your bike clean is a good polish (plenty to choose from) and elbow grease if anyone tells you different they are blowing smoke up your arse.

There are some very expensive protective systems that will last a year, but you still need to wash it sometimes. These systems are VERY expensive, like, over $1000 to do your rocket, so not for the everyday owner.

If all you're concerned about is being able to wash off bugs, use anything slippery. Vaseline comes to mind.

If you're interested in protecting the paint then use a product designed to protect the paint. There are several auto detailing forums around that provide a wealth of information on sealers and waxes.

Its funny how someone will rail against using a tire that is not designed for a motorcycle but will insist that the best product to protect motorcycle paint is furniture polish.
ACTUALLY there are several articals attesting to how well PLEDGE works on motorcycles and I dont know what that has to do with tires other than plege works great as tire shine LOL
