Update kit ordered

Definitely put all internal engine parts from the kit in the engine. I agree with saving the electrical for another time.

I dont know what you want updated on my post My engine was allready being removed for the transmission repair so the update kit was basically just put in along with everything else so there was not alot of labor charges for the kit installation

you said you would "let all know what final determination was" when done.so I guess i thought you would tell us the final cost but it's ok iv'e been looking around and might have found a way to get work done.

The final answer is I needed 2-5 gears a new drive shaft and a new final drive unit The update kit was put in during the rebuild and my cost for the whole thing was close to 4000.00 and L+D Suzuki sucks at putting things back together and taking care of parts removed and stored while repairing the bike and are super tight wads with what they will help you out with after spending all that money in their shop....I will not recommended them to anyone for anything and Triumph in Ga talked a good game but didnt do an f=n thing to help me out..........Im sorry I didnt reply before but
I am still so pissed about their service and work and the lack of support from Triumph in Ga....Thats all Im goiung to say BP is rising fast will be looking into Md and Pa for shops to do any other work needed on the bike in the future!

wow, sorry to hear about your misfortune but am not too surprised having had a couple beginners bikes (harleys) before triumph's it seems dealers are dealers regardless what their pushing. that said I was offered 5K trade in on my 06 standard when I was considering a R3t and it really helped me put things in perspective. These bikes are finally getting some miles on them and problems are beginning to show up.

Interesting.. being 'new' to the forum.. still catching up.

My '06 is low mileage ( 11k ) ... since it's worth less than 5k on a trade in, and thats' got to be the cost of an update kit installed (?) ... I'll just enjoy this bad boy as long as possible and keep the $ low on upgrades...

Rick, update kit installed is only around $2k. I mentioned the 5 as it was in combination with the carpenter upgrade.
Needing the upgrade kit has been hit/miss with the older models. Some go 80-100k without. Usually if it's needed you'll know between 10-20.
Besides the transmission (update kit fixes) and ignition (EB relay solves), there really aren't any major across the fleet issues with these bikes that I'm aware of. some TPS failures and some detent springs. The rest are certainly not endemic.

Hang around the site long enough and you will notice Roadster or not they all can develop problems. Now that the Roadster is going on five years you can see guys having to have their transmissions and other stuff worked on. A lot of it boils down to how the operator is with the bike. Anyone with any Rocket can bend the shift forks and round off the dogs on the gears. So other then the few other things in the update kit I seriously believe the Newer ones are not much better then the older ones. I Triumph would pull their head out and come up for air they would add some color back into the bike and the rest of the accessories you used to be able to find everywhere. It would be no problem for them to bring about your choice of peg and handle bar style be it Classic, Standard, or Roadster.
