Tuneboy Modified Tunes

Question from a tuning novice

Gents, all other factors being equal, does the secondary throttle FULL OPENING in all gears require a retune in and by itself?

NB. My 2004 green machine runs perfectly "as is" since mid-2005, with Mad Dogs MkII cans, the cat litter in place, an underseat, snorkel-less K&N filter and a 2006 Triumph tune update (the one that goes with TOR cans, I suppose)

Guidance appreciated. Thanks. Jamie

Jaime,
in all honesty, you might be better served by using 20225 or 20218 from the tuneboy download site. these are what seem to be applicable to your current set up.
it is assumed that you are going to keep your cat box installed, so this is what I would run......

I tried Goodfellow's tune without the end caps, ran fine, had a little bit of pop on decal but not too bad... ran great, but not enough better to justify leaving it that way, so I put my 12 discs back on...

I really need to go to Atlanta or somewhere and locate a good PC3 tuner to get mine 100%...

maybe when I get some cam resolution...

Goodfellow, you say this is a milage tune? I'm going to hit the drag strip on Sunday, if I can figure out a way I'll take my laptop with me as I cannot decide on running your tune, or the original one sam provided and removing my end caps...

I might have to open them both up and check them out...

Reg,
well, yes and no....it depends on how you run the exhaust. 12disc,closed end cap=quiet & good mileage. 12 open discs=very sudden torque all the way to 5500 rpm and not so good gas mileage due to hard scavenging. I wish you had a car tire on back... my thoughts are to try both with 12 open discs out back and see what you come up with. the predator should have one mean scavenge pull with the 12 discs and the merge collector working together. the torque will ramp up very quickly with those short stacks and pipes..... wish I could be there with you while this is going on. it's gonna be a real blast. have a good time and be careful. let us know how it goes for you. :D

with the 12 discs its making some serious tourque.. can feel it spin the rear on the 1-2 upshift...

thats why I was askign "Milage tune?" with end cap removed it did fine as well...didn't ride it too far..did get some pop and burble on decel

darkside is my next step I think...

well,ok. maybe I fudged a little bit on a perspective point of view. to me, 32/33 mpg all around is good...... :D I just like some fun to go with it. so I went ahead and tuned for the best of both by using the super trapp to its fullest potential. I'm happy. I can't hardly wait till you go to the track. that's gonna be very interesting.....
