Triump vs Harley

The Destroyer was also sub 9. You can't build mods that are useless except for drag racing then complain when someone else makes a faster bike. IMHO, the Rocket is not an ideal racing platform.
YOU can of course modify your Rocket and still have a better street hot rod that will get 40+ mpg and we have run 8 second 1/4 mile mile times and 160 mph speeds and this is on a comfy cruiser that runs on pump gas

I came this close to shipping my 2005 to Carpenter. I was bored with it after 8 years. Talked to Bob. Wound up selling it, getting a T-Bird, selling it, then another R3. I could have had 240 hp for a lot, lot, lot less $$.

I'm actually thinking of selling my Rocket (in the classifieds at the moment) and getting a Harley. I love my Rocket, but I have no faith in my local service department. I really don't take it in there unless I can't figure the problem out, but when I do take it.. they aren't capable of resolving the problem either and I end up giving them hundreds of dollars for nothing and I'm tired of it. I've given them about $600 for labor over the past couple of years with no results. I'm hoping replacing the spark plug wires will resolve my problem.

There are 4 Harley dealers within an hour of my house, 1 of them 10 mins from where I work. All of them have competent service departments, and the one closest to my work is a really good bunch of people.

No Harley can touch a Rocket performance wise.. but hydraulic lifters reduce maintenance.. there are only 2 plug wires and they don't cost $190.00 and the dealer will have them in stock. There is 1 throttle body.. no synching.. Tires are much less expensive.. etc..
SO tell me how much the local Harley shop charges for an oil change on a big twin ?

If you think that the maintenance on a Harley is better and cheaper I would love to sell you some ocean front property in Arizona. The 2010 fatboy that we bought brand new and still own has been the most expensive bike to maintain and keep running that we have ever owned. We do most of are own work but even so with the Twin cam engine it requires a lot of work due to the fact that it is really weak in design and function. From what we have read and gathered in conversation with owners of the sportys they seem to have a lot less problems. Service departments from my experience have been some what of a joke. Took a rim in to get a new tire installed upon inspection found the old weights still attached to rim. Asked how did you manage to balance tire and add weights with original weights still attached. If a shop can not get a tire right then it makes me wonder about what else they could screw up. Do not get me wrong I like my Fatboy but as for being cheaper to maintain it is not.

I found my twin cam was cheap until it wasn't. Hd's rebuild program is a bit misleading as they destroy all your high dollar performance parts and bring it back to stock, the price for the rebuild also don't include shop time for pulling and replacing the motor.
