Got ti together far enough today to fire the engine. Ran the back wheel. No funny noises and so far no leaks. Only had a few parts left over

Took her out for the maiden voyage this morning, went a hundred (you didn't think I was going to start babying it). Everything held together ! I'm now wondering if that inner bearing knocked the clip off and slid over some time ago as it seems to have noticeably less drive line slop now. Plan to put a hundred or so miles on it than pull the pan again and clean the screens of any remaining skita. For the moment the odyssey seems to have ended on a happy note. Here she is all buttoned up

Great work there Fred, it can get scary in side a motor but once you have it will be easier next time if one of your Mates over there has it happen you can help* them (*definition of help them = sit back in chair having a brew and let them under your supervision have all the same anxiety attack moments) just kiddin :roll::roll:
Job well done I was confident you would have no problems as soon as I saw how you laid out all your bits and had a clear work area, It is definitely a good idea to drop the pan again, I would like to suggest before you do add a can/ bottle of engine oil flush ("Wurth" make a good one) and run it for about 10 to 15 miles it thins the oil to help clean the internals and may help move any suspended skita down to pan JMTCW.
Again good job I take my hat of to you also for showing others here that it is possible to tackle these jobs yourself as long as you have a little mechanical common sense :thumbsup:
