I am going through the Output shaft replacement. I jacked up the rear with the bike lift. The front fender must come off for clearance.

My problem when I take something apart is when I put it back together I always have extra parts.....

There is a theory that if you rebuild enough Holly carburetors, then one day you will be able to build a compete new one with the left over bits.

KIDS ! Don't try this at home ! After removing even more parts;

Finally was able to drop the engine down. Getting all the wires unhooked is a pain. Seems like every one has a different locking mechanism you have to figure out.

I actually had the motor lower than this to get the damper assembly out

The damage was worse than I expected. Both bearings had failed. The shaft spun in the inner bearing ruining the shaft. It also wore through the keepers so the entire damper assembly came apart. Lucky for me Warp 9.9 had a spare he sold me at a very reasonable price. (Thanks again Scott !) Here is the damper assembly. The inner bearing came completely apart. The outer race is still in the engine. I'm going to have to buy a bearing extractor.

Here is a pic from the other side. I can't imagine what a dealer would want to do this job. It is a LOT of work.

Off to the dealer tomorrow to order gaskets, o-rings etc. Also investigating more robust bearings if they are available. I'd hate to do this again.

Actually i called the insurance and they said they may cover it!!!!
I ordered the motor and today the guy called me saying that one of the motor mounts was broke, perfect excuse for cancelling the order
The insurance guy told me not to start any repairs until the adjustor looks at it, i may get lucky!

I told him to push it off the side of a mountain. At least 20 of us saw that truck run him off the road.

Dealer would want more than what you can buy a Rocket for where you live I'd reckon. Sure have a task ahead of you mate. Think I'd have 'disappeared it' myself.

No but I still saw the truck run him off the road. He jumped off the Spider just before it went over the edge.
