Reason for Getting the R3

I wanted a fast bike but I wanted the power in the lower end. I wanted quick 0-60mph or 0-100mph which is where is spend most of my time. I also wanted a bike that didn't need to be revved to 10K to get into the meat of the power band and not riding it in the fetal position was a requirement. Hello Mr. Rocket.
 
I always loved power cruisers. The second bike i ever owned was VRod. I loved that bike and had it for many years, but had to let it go for financial reasons. This reminds me of that bike, but better. It looks different from all the bikes out there. Get comments on it everywhere. It's a joy to ride and I can take it on long trips (500+ mile days). As soon as I saw this bike I wanted it, then once a used one popped up not far from me I had to have it!

I have to second that....... I have owned a few bikes, just like most of us here on the great R3owners net.
I do have to say, this is the most rewarding riding experience on a bike........
I don’t get out much..........
 
Well, I'm a street cruising, two-lane highway rumbling, hit-the-corner-and-shoot-down-the-street type of rider. I've owned Valkyries, 1st-gen VMax's, the old Kawasaki Vulcan VN1500 (remember those?), a Suzuki M109, and - a personal favorite - an ancient 1980s Honda Magna that I rode until the wheels literally fell off. The new Rocket 3 R, in my opinion, is the pinnacle, the ultimate, the absolute master and commander of this genre of machine. I had to have one - and I'm glad I do!

Takes me back to high school - my friend Doug's V65 Sabre. Riding it made going back to my 650 Nighthawk feel like a moped.

Agree with your thoughts on the Rocket 3 R, mine is the most enjoyable machine I've ever ridden.
 
Still have my 1984 Honda V-65 Sabre that I bought new back then. Only has a bit over 3,000 miles on it... I rode the living He!! out of my 1983 Magna V-65 though. The Sabre's extremely low miles is because the foot peg position is such that my right inner ankle gets toasted by the engine case unless I ride with boots and back in the day I just wore deck shoes without socks and jeans. Although I'm smarter now about ATGATT, the other bikes need their attention...

The Sabre still really screams but the suspension is quite dated now compared to the newer bikes. I only replaced the OEM tires last year because she was really nagging me big time about how dangerous it was. I have to admit, the rubber was REALLY hard after 36 years, sort of like the eraser on an old pencil... :oops:
