Great time!

I had a great time meeting every one. Sorry that I did not get to spend a lot of time with some of you, but at least can now put a name with a face for the most part. For some of you I can get you the name of a good plastic surgeon:D You know who you are (don't make me call names)lol. Thanks to Dave and Brian for putting this together...excellent job!

Flipmeister is Home...at last

Well, I got home about 2 hours ago. I got in an Gunshots called about 5 minutes later, so he's home too. We camped out at a Ramada in Vandalia, Ill. It got ugly in St. Louis and we tried to stay in front of the storm but it was very electrical, so we got a room at the Ramada. It stormed really bad but all was wll this morning so on we went.

The TDU lasted home. It's still noisy...rumbling away, no worse. It's shifting a little rough...hard to find neutral and it has a lot of freeplay when going slow. It's happier at 70-75 and I can't hear the noise with my faceshield down. Was pretty chilly this morning, actually didn't get warm today.

I had a great time, as usual. Looking forward to next year. My total mileage was 2150 round trip.

I'll download the pictures in the next few days and catch up on forum.

Tom....I'll call the dealer in Kazoo and feel them out and we will go from there.

I averaged my usual 40 mpg. My metz has no more wear than when I left. I'm going for 12K. My other fork started leasking on the way home to match the one on the right....oh well.

Got to go to bed. Have to teach the masses not to be asses tomorow.

I just realized that Flip won't be at a computer for another day. Pig9er can can talk all the smack about him that he wants, and Flip can't do a thing about it!!!

It's not as much fun if I can't get a reaction from him.:D

I'm here now. It made it home, grinding all the way. That TDU must be shot to hell by now. The left fork started leaking too. I have 2 black discs now. I got in at 7pm. Gunshots called me 5 minutes later. I have to download the camera.....I'll post them, good, bad and ugly....even Britman relieving himself........If anyone wants any just let me know, I'll zip 'em and send 'em.

I dropped a new post before I realized that that there was a thread already going. B....if you want to slide it over here.

I had a great time. A year is too long without seeing Piano and Britman. Pigger, I can stand to wait a year for you....just kidding.

Should I post the pictures of Tomo laying on his back looking at a flat metz????

I'll be around tomorow evening.

Good Freinds, Good Food, Good times, WOW A great trip and a wonderful weekend. Now back to the old grind tomorrow, I wonder what they going to think about the be GRIN:D:D:D

OMG I too now believe in ghosts..............

I have a little info on gas mileage I learned from this trip. I know a lot of new people ask about gas mileage so Greg an I did a little experimenting with gas on the way up and back. Greg can correct me on some numbers if I get it wrong with his bike.

First about our bikes, Greg runs tune boy (don’t know which tune) triple’s under the bear claw and after market exhaust with that a front faring and a dark side rear tire. My bike is all stock.

Greg usually runs low grade any kind of gas I only run mid to height Chevron. On average I believe he gets 32 to 34mpg and I, well I have no clue never cared. So starting out he put regular grade Valero in his and I had Chevron. At our first fill up (again Greg correct me if I am wrong here) I believe Greg was around 34 and I was at 37or 39mpg. We both filled up this time with mid grade Chevron and this time he got around 37 and I hit the 40 mpg mark. So we stayed with mid grade Chevron or Shell except for 1 or 2 fills which made out mileage fluctuate a lot but the longer we ran Chevron or shell the higher the gas mileage. At one point I believe Greg at his best got 39mpg and my best was 43mpg.

So although I know the conditions we were driving in ie. Hills or flat, heavy or light on throttle makes a difference my conclusion is you get better gas mileage with the mid to high grade gas from Chevron or Shell or passably the other top end name brands.

So there you have it Greg went from the low 30’s to a best of 39 and I went from the worst 37 to 43 at my best just by running mid to high grade gas so I for one will spend the extra 5 to 8 cents a gallon to get 3 or 4 more miles to the gallon and a cleaner running engine.

Glad to hear you all made it home safe and that everyone had a good time. Can’t wait to see everyone again, My door is always open to anyone why wants to come on down this way or if anyone would like to join us for the Galveston rally at the end of October let us know.

Also for those of you who can’t wait till next year Greg and I are tossing around the idea of going to Carlsbad New Mexico in the spring and ridding the Guadalupe mountain range. At this point it is just an idea but if anyone wants to go let us know.

P.S.

I need my valves ajusted (10,000 mile) a new rear tire mine is gone. and breaks all the way around. Anyone need any handly work done around the house I need to make some extra money me broke:( BUT MAN I HAD FUN:D:D
Still trying to find my chicken stip, think I left it back at one of those switch backs.;)
