I installed the Progressive 418 HD's last night and the only problem I encountered was on the left side, bottom bolt removal due to having Jardine's. The bolt backed out into the pipe and had to be forced out as I did not want to have to remove the left side Jardine but it did come out. So, I cut 1/4 inch off that bolt with a hack saw and then put red lock tight on all the bolts and re-installed. Set both settings on 2, rode the bike and I love these shocks :!:

Hi Native One, cool you got the progressive shocks... Been thinking about it for a while, but only for the purpose of trying to lower the bike a bit. I'm short, and I would love to touch the ground a bit more.
Are you finding any lowering that is of any significance, or are you just thrilled about the handling?

Let me know, I would appreciate your feedback.
Guess I'm gonna get the chance to meet you at the salvo!
I just wish I knew everyones REAL name... heeheee.....

I went with the stock size, which is 12.5. They do sell shorter sizes as he said. The ride is remarkable compared to the standard shocks, I can't say enough about the difference! My given name by the way is John, not my birth name, long story!

Ive got the 11" ones and now ive milled the bottom of my rearsets i aint scraping it.Without the rearsets you will easily scrape the pegs.Without milling the bottom off the rearsets you would as well.If you lower the back dont forget to lower the front as well makes a big differance.

Thanks for all the input.. I had heard last year when I raised this question whether the height difference was noticeable.
So I guess I need to hear from John/Native One and Angus triple if their answer is YES, I am lower to the ground.
I also am fearful of messing with the bike too much, lower the rear, then ya gotta lower the front... nervous about messing with perfection, but I sure could appreciate being a little lower.
Half the time, my husband has to park it for me, handle it on a steep cliff etc., and I am tired of making the jokes about having my own personal Valet driver, but..... cest la vie....

I went with 440s, heavy duty springs and 13" length.

I did notice the added 1/2", felt like a taller bike till I got used to it.

My wife and I don't bottom out the engine going over speed
bumps now... really hate it when that happens, "Scrape....."

Fabulous side effect is I don't compress my spine now on every
freeway bump and ridge either...

thanks rbbnjmn that IS good advice.
My issue is that I ride solo, not planning on taking any passengers, I'm a bit chunky, weighing in at around 195, but I rarely ever bottom out or suffer that spine crunching when I hit bumps, dont know why, lucky I guess, but I really need to be lower and really cant think of too many other ways. I've been complaining about this since November. The seat, although wide in the thighs makes it even more difficult to touch the ground, it is truly the width of the frame of the bike that is at issue.

Oh well.. I'll survive, no laughing at me when I cant park it or reverse!

Subjectively I'm sure you could go with 12" and notice the difference
~and~ not mess up any geometry in a meaningful way.

At least with 440s you'd also feel a huge improvement in feel and
handling too.
