I just got done with installing TWO Priority Lite light conversions. You can look the up product at
Sound Off Recreational, Inc. - Safety Lighting Products .
The summary is that you can make turn signals (or any light) work as half power running lights, brake lights and still work as turn signals.
I couldn't think of a way to make the front turn signals work as running lights and turn signals without complicated wiring, so I got another Priority Lites for the front and just did not splice into the brake light for that one.
I have LED turn signals up front, LED brake lights, LED turn signals in my license plate frame (with load equalizers), and LED lights in the saddlebags. The license plate lights are split off the turn signal harness BEFORE the Priority Lites. This makes them act like normal turn signals and not running lights. I'm not sure of the law here, but in most places, you cannot have amber running lights in the rear.
The install went well. The rear turn signals are easiest to get to from the right panel under the seat. The front turn signals are most accessible under the tank near the front. I found its easiest to unhook the wires and tap into the lines on the signal side of the plug. For reference, the pair of wires with the red tape is the right side. This is true for front and rear.
The signals stay at half power while running lights. They become full power then brakes are applied. Whether brakes are on or not, the light flashes full off to full on when turn signal is on.
Let me know if anyone has a question.
I should be installing some warn xt200-f driving lights soon. They will mount on the bars that support the pegs. I'm on a lighting kick...
